Default best boost controller for my application?- AEM EMS, mbc, ebc?...

I plan on buying the AEM EMS and was wondering which boost controller would suit my needs the best... I have a tial 38mm wastegate plan on running about 12psi ~330hp on the street, then 20psi ~400hp in racing mode.

With the AEM EMS it has the boost gear control which the avc-r offers so i dont need that... I think that I will just need a simple manual boost controller? Nothing electronic, fancy and expensive. However, I do want quality.

I was looking at the Hallman EVO mbc with the adjuster that runs to the cabin. I like the idea of just being able to turn the **** without having to pull over and pop the hood. I have researched it and it seems like no one seems to have problems with it.

Is there anything that I am overlooking, or dont know about, that may effect my reasoning on which boost controller to go with?

Thanks!

If you're buying an AEM then all you need to do is buy a GM solenoid and you'll have more control over boost then any standalone boost controller. Once tuned, you can wire a HI/LOW boost switch as well.

awesome, i read into that and found that all i am going to need is the the GM boost solenoid for ~30$. Everything can be controlled through the EMS... Just one more reason AEM wins me over...

The AEM has RPM/TPS, Vehicle Speed, or hi/lo switch boost target methods. But no Gear dependent target method. For the most part that may not matter as you can do almost the same thing with the speed method.

Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that if your using the AEM as your boost controller its one more subsystem you'll have to tune. That section isnt real hard to tune but it certainly isnt as easy as turning a **** on a MBC. This gets complicated if your trying to tune fuel/ignition at the same time your fighting with the boost control to maintain its boost target without overboosting. Just food for thought.

so a cheap MBC may be a simpler route than using the GM solenoid?

If you're looking for simplicity, any ball and spring type MBC will be inexpensive, simple, and efficient. I'm usint the Turbo XS single stage MBC....'set it and forget it.'

Using the gm boost noid with the AEM EMS is a little bit of a PITA to setup but once you get it working correctly you can do almost anything with it..
