Advice regarding exhausts and emissions..
The dilemma I am having is setting up an exhaust system for my turbo setup that when inspection time comes around I wont have to take off the exhaust. Is something like this even possible? What I was going to do is have a setup so I bolt on a test pipe and bolt it off and bolt on a cat for inspection.
The issue is assuming I took out the WG spring and the piping on the cold side would I still fail just by having the turbo on the car? Or does it matter as long as the setup cannot build any boost and it passes the sniffer test?
The thing is I dont want to have to keep around a lot of stock parts just to switch back every year, but even if I took off the turbo stuff and still wanted the exhaust stuff there is no way the 3in piping would hook up to the stock headers in the first place.
Usually what route do most people take do they just keep the stock parts around when the time rolls around? Or is there some way to achieve what I am wanting to have done??

You can make a test pipe(or 3" cat) that's a little longer than your stock cat. Then, get a small piece that flares out to 3", weld a 2.25" flange on the small end to bolt to the stock cat, and weld a 3" flange on the 3" end to connect to your exhaust. So what you'll end up with is your stock cat with a flanged flare out to 3" that will bolt up to your stock header and your 3" exhaust, and will be a direct swap for your test pipe.

Re: (inspyral)
Nevermind..I misread the post so I am guessing I would at least have to hang onto my stock cat and header no matter what. But what you suggested is prolly what I will end up doing. I wouldnt mind taking the manifold off and putting the headers I just really dont want to mess with the exhaust too much.
