Default Advantages of upgrading from my stock radiator to a gsr

Is there any advantage of upgrading my stock 92 civic si radiator to a GSR one? I have a built LS turbo motor. Also how hard is it to upgrade it as far as making it fit and attaching it? TIA

On my 6th gen civic, I heard the Accord V6 radiator is a good, cheaper upgrade. It makes sense to put a radiator out of a larger car into your smaller one especially if it will fit. This may not be the same for you though, but you get my point. In your case, a gsr radiator doesn't sound to bad. I hope this helped.

del sol vtec, if you can find one. gives you more cooling (than sohc) and more room than an integra's

if you go with a gsr rad then you will most likely have to ditch your AC. I would suggest going with a del sol vtec rad. It is the same dimensions as your current rad, but it is a dual core unit as opposed to single core. While you are at it, strap a fal fan on it to improve airflow.

I did exactly that to my '93 and I really like mine. I was able to run with no fan for a month while I was waiting for my FAL and it stayed cool the whole time. It was actually cheaper at the place that I bought mine at then it would have been to buy the stock civic radiator!

Thanks for your replies. I do not have ac anymore or power steering or any accessories except for heat. My car runs cool in the winter but not sure how it will run in the summer so I am trying to plan ahead. Does anyone know how much of a pain it is to bolt the gsr one up? Or is it a direct bolt in? TIA

It's really easy. You just need to fabricate four brackets. I used exhaust hangers from my friends shop. Make sure that you use a rubber gasket inside of the bracket where it touches the plastic. Over time it will crack your radiator's plastic if you don't. The hardest part is getting the old brackets that are welded to the frame off, so have a recipricating saw on hand. You will also need to buy new hoses which is really easy just go into someplace like napa with your old ones and by then you will now the aproximate dimentions of the new hoses you need.

Here is the information I used...

Where can one obtain a brand new aftermarket del sol vtec type radiator for a low price? Anybody got some websites to share?

when i swaped in my built gsr i just left my automatic civic radiator since it was thicker. Car has never overheated once and the temps stay nice and cool for the brief time i had it out when it was warmer.
