about to drill oil pan please look to see if ok..URGENT
let me know if its a good idea to drill on the far left side of the oil pan when looking at it from the front of the car. just like the pic shows

I think you'll be fine there. Mine's right about there and I've had no trouble in the years it's been there.

as long as the baffleing isnt in the way you should be fine right there. If your welding that on, you might need to move it down just a tiny bit to be able to weld the top

Don't drill the hole under a location where you bolt the pan to the engine. Drill in between so you don't have trouble installing the pan later on.

can't be sure from your picture, but depending on the fitting you use, make sure you're not blocking the dip stick (that hole in the bafflle).

I always find it easier to put the manifold/turbo on to see where it's going to sit in relation to where you just blindly drilled a hole in your pan. You're going to need a good slope in your drain line. The pan fitting is the only moveable end to help you accomplish this.
I've done that a couple times and been really sorry. Especially with an Hf/adaptor plate.

yes, fitted the manifold and this was the best place to drain. as for the dipstick, im aware of that. its not blocking the hole. ill post pics tomm so keep posted. oh yeah also, i have a small amount of oil dripping from the pan where i drilled. should i jb it?

I would try to get that welded on, just to eliminate future leaks, because that's definitely going to leak with that fitting.
You need A weld fitting for the pan not one with pipe thread its not going to hold if you just screw it in, the pan is to thin.

Who uses a 10 AN oil feed?
Anyways, I hope he didn't use that fitting in the pic and just screwed it in. IMO it would better to get a bulkhead fitting and used that. A weld on fitting would have been nest and a 45 degree hose end fitting would have been best.

True, or you could just weld it from the inside, thats what i did with mine.

I personally would never jb weld. Either have a steel fittingn welded on, or use a true bulkhead fitting. Use a step drill and make is the exact size, don't want any play in the fitting. If a bulkhead is used, use silicon to seal.

HINT: a 3AN-4AN ( @ 1/8 NPT equivalent) fitting would be close to the same size as one of the oilpan bolt holes.

Re: (BlueShadow)
the hole i drilled was 3/4 inch. how do you measure the AN? is this in mm? my feed line is about half the diameter of the return. would having a 4AN fitting for a feed not pressurize the oil going in enough?

Re: (hamburgler)
I have heard two different things:
#1 a larger feed line will cause the turbo to see less oil pressure so therefore less oil flow
#2 a larger feed line will cause the turbo to see more oil flow
I dont know what to believe. So I just went with a 3 An feed line and an oil restrictor. If you already have your 4 an feed line setup, then you could get a restrictor if you want piece of mind. Also I forget how the AN measurements go but IIRC 1 AN = 1/16", but I'm not positive.
EDIT send Flamenco-T a quick IM and ask him about AN conversions. He should know for sure what AN will equal to in inches.

ok thanks, ill just make my own oil restrictor by drilling a hole once i get these conversion factors. in the mean time im going to start a new post on AN fittings and sizes

I have an oil leak to ... i had the fitting that uses the nut and washer on the inside of the oil pan. The leak i'm not too worried about right now, but my dad used pipe dope on it i believe and its leaking down the outside of the pan. I'm worried if its doing the same thing on the inside and what could happen if this stuff was getting in my oil??????
