Default 600-700hp build..what's needed?

Me and some friends want to put together a decent drag strip only car, but are kinda unsure on what exactly is needed and what can be left out. Were all fairly new to engine building and have mostly done mild 200whp na stuff, but nothing really serious.

What we already have is an 84.5mm benson sleeved block and a b17 head.

Now can eagle rods take the power were looking for or should we be looking at something else?
Also what CR would be needed to make this power(will NOT be on pump gas)?
Planning on using an 89mm oem crank

The head is going to be ported by user b20vtech, planning on full sk2 valvetrain, pro1s, victorX.

Turbo kit and fuel is pretty much a mystery. Will def be using an equal length, but should we be looking at a top mount or ramhorn? Benefits of each?
Which turbo best suits our build?
Will an intank walbro do the trick or should we be looking at something else?
What size injectors will properly fit our goals?

Which trans will be best for this app? LS transmissions are usually Alot cheaper. We DON'T want to spend money on a full blown tranny, so how can we save here and still keep the car somewhat realiable?
Will we need a twin disk or can we use something like a clutchmasters stg. 5?

Ignition-
I'm just lost here. Can anyone suggestion a decent ignition setup that won't tear up my pockets?

Chassis is a 92 hatchback, and plans for suspension is the omni drag suspension. Car will be tuned with an s300 and most likely by PED in Stockton.

Th goal is to make 600-700hp! We have a friendly race in Jan 2012 and would like to get The car up by then.

Thanks ht

well you have the same bore block as i do manall i needed to do to be over 700 was switch fuel last year, but im hooked on the corn lol

my setup is as follows

a1000 pump
-10 lines/sumped tank/1000cc injectors/victor x manifold

stock gsr head with supertech springs

t4/pt67 turbo/3" down pipe/38mm tial gate/50mm blow off/2.5" piping/cx racing i.c.

gsr tranny with a b16 quafe/b16 ring gear of course

aem-ems/m&w pro14/cop

redline topmount manifold

made 650@28psi maxing the injectors out on e85 with a base of 90psi

tuner said switch to q and it will be over 700, but im not a fan of being subject to paying the prices some people wanna charge for fuel so pump e85 it was lol.

now all i really had to do what switch to id2000's and a better i.c, and i would have been golden

Money.

I'll give my 2 cents.

Eagle rods can take the power up to about 600 or so, or at least that's what my tuner has said he's made on one of his personal cars, and is what I've heard is about where they go to. I have eagles in my car, but if I do another build I'll either use pauter or
Manley turbo tuff rods.

Most people like 9:1 compression for boost, but if its never gonna run on pump, you may be wanna run higher. 11.1 would be as high as I'd want to go.

From what I've been reading, the pte 6262 is looking like a really good turbo, so that may be one you'd like to consider.

As far as your tranny goes, at those power levels your gonna need to get it built, especially if your gonna be launching it on slicks every weekend at the track. 2 people I know over 575 whp have had there trannys die. From what I saw though, it's usually the pinion gear that gets shredded, so I don't know if you get a forged final drive if the stock gears could take a little more. It's actually what I'm gonna be researching for myself here in a little bit.

Stage 5 clutch could probably take it, but a twin disk would be preferred. My friend who made a little over 600 (one of the dudes who killed a tranny) was using a single disk ACT clutch.

Hope this helps a little. I'm sure others will probably be able to help you a little more as well.

is a nice thing to do but not needed carbon synchros/quafe/cuff/descent oil/learn to preload and launch correctly the tranny will last just like mine has man

630h.p last summer 58 hits not even a grind on 24.5x8x13 tranny is good to go

62/62 is a really nice turbo but to start out you seem power hungry lol the 67/65 might be a better deal for you to increase in the future that way you wont need to be running max on the 62/62 or buy a bigger turbo

That's nice to know your tranny is holding up. That's been one of my main concerns about going up over the 500 whp mark. Maybe it was bad luck for the other guys.

For your ignition setup i would go with the m&w pro 10 kit, havent had personal experience with it but have heard great results from it and no problems at all from it.

Change of plans! Were going to save the benson block and do a basic rod/piston combo, cast/log manifold, single disk, LS trans, intank walbro, Gsr cams. Hopefully well get into the 11s or maybe even 10s.

Any suggestions with this setup?
