Default Crower 404's a good cam for turbo b18b?

Anyone? Or are these cams too wild for FI applications.

What????? Can you please explain?

If not, I will explain why they are just fine for FI applications:

Well, The Crower cams seem to be ok even with the boost. When selecting cams for Boost you want as little duration as possible and as much lift as possible. The lower amount of duration will reduce overlap, thus preventing detonation! The higher lift pushes the valves open farther than stock.

The Crower 62404 cams specs are as follows:

IN 249 degree duration & .446" lift (11.33mm)
EX 251 degree duration & .432" lift (10.97mm)

If anything, you may desire MORE lift, but the duration is perfect for boost!

I hope this helps!

APEXSER, how do you think thaey stack up against the 403s. I currnetly have the 403 but while my engine is being built I may have to consider the 404s. I also am FI with a 84.5mm bore.

specs IN 243 deg duration & .423" lift
EX 246 deg duration & .409" lift

You'll need cam gears, valve springs, a computer upgrade, and hopefully your rod bearings can handle 8000+ RPM, where all the power is gonna be. Having owned 403's, I can say I didnt like them. Power was there but it was to high up in the power band and the loss of low end torque was completely gay, especially since I had to drive my car to school and work. With the turbo and the cams, it felt like I was driving a Geo metro, absolutely no low end power. But I guess if the specs are "what's perfect for boost" then get them.

I have been running the 403s with 20psi of boost and they seem to work good but seem to fall off around 7800 rpm (or my skunk manifold is not up to the task). I am primarily usingthis as a drag car and by the time this is put together I will have the HP manifold. I guess its just something to ponder over the winter.

Boosted, in your case, the wilder cam might be beneficial. I think I talked to Etylorcen before and if I remeber this is his daily driver. Is your head ported? That might be why you're not making power up high. When I had the 403's at 12 psi I was shifting at 7500, fully built head that flowed like a hooker, stainless undercut valves, everything. It felt like it still wanted to pull but I had my rev limiter set at 7800 cuz I didnt want to rev it out to high. I remember I used to hit the limiter all the time because it seemed like it wanted to pull.

I have a friend with 403s also, 20psi. He runs great. I have a set of 404s that I used before turbo, they are lumpy!! Too much overlap.

Yeah my head is ported pretty hard. It was a JG Pro Series head when I got it a year or 2 ago but since has been ported further. I am still curious about the 404s we seem to have a opinions on both sides of the coin.

well in your case, if it's a drag car and driveability isnt an issue then I'm sure it can be dialed to work right. I just dont think it's a good idea in a daily driver. Imagine going to pick up a girl for a date or something and your car is all idling rough and smells like unburnt gas and occasionally stalls, that would be lame. It's all about a nice smooth daily driver.

So with either the 403's or 404's I can expect a loss in the low end until I start hitting boost? Like turbointeg95 said, its my daily driver but I'm just trying to pull everything I can out of it before I get my hondata.
