+300HP D-series: Is it possible or is someone bullsh*tting me?
Some local shop is claiming to have produced 341 HP (don't know if crank or wheel, they didn't specify) on a D16Y9 engine. I don't have the entire setup at hand now, but I remember they mentioned that they acomplished that number without a block guard, and I just want to know if it is possible to squezee +300 HP from a D-series engine.
I ask because I thought it was not possible, someone confirm this or prove me wrong. Could the engine hold that power? Did it happened just once, because of near ideal dyno conditions? When they present the dynosheet (I asked them for proof), could the results have been manipulated while on the dyno?

its impossible to make that power on a d-series...only b-series can make big HP...2x the cam equals 2x the power

Couple questions:
Let's assume these guys from the shop are saying the truth.
Can it run on 95 octane unleaded fuel (highest grade in here for street cars) and be used for daily driving, or is it a time bomb?
I'll try to get a hold of the setup too.
Try to cut me some slack, it's just where I live people love to make up some bullshit numbers and stories, and the local Honda comunity still has much to learn, so I was a little skepctial when they said they had 341 HP.

I made 256 whp and 226 wtq on Mustang dyno w/ stock sleeves. In my opinion anything over 300 whp would be pushing stock sleeves unless you take alot of timing out.

300+ horsepower is very achieveable in a d-series. Why must people underestimate sohc's? I dont know whether you are talking about stock internals or what not, but with good fuel management, comes more boost, which brings more power. I hope my sohc vtec seens 300 whp some day...

just for the record turbodcx did 351 whp @ 16psi on pump gas not too long ago. i'm hoping for similar #'s although my cr is a whole 1.5 points higher lol... i'm running 14psi on pump gas now.
