3" Exhaust or a E cutout
Well I just posted my setup on here yesterday for my turbo gsr. I told every one I was looking for 450 to 500 whp. They said choose a better manifold which I am looking into, and to go from a 2.5" to 3" Exhaust, which I am also looking into. But my question is would a E cutout do about the same for me as the 3" exhuast. I am going to be drivig around at 10 psi daily, and then I will turn up the boost to race on rare ocasions . So if you think the E cutout would do the job let me know. Or if you think I am being cheap and need to get 3" also let me know. Thanks

just run open downpipe. i have on my last two set ups. isn't as loud as you would think. hell most my NA set ups where louder, well not at WOT and full boost but driving around normal. and thats 3in open downpipe.... but yes you at least need 3in dowpipe with 3in exhaust , i think its kinda harder to tune for the e-cut out isn't it , and your not gonna come close to 450-500 only pushing 10psi.

I will be doing 10 psi daily, I know that wont get me 500whp, but if you will notice I said I will turn up the boost to race, thus reaching 500whp. Reading owns you.

I'll help give you an idea of the noise produced. I live in a rural area. My brother's b16b w/2.5" exhaust and real mugen twin-loop could be heard ~1 mile from our house at WOT. My boosted d16z6 w/3" exhaust (only 2 resonators) could be heard almost as far. With an open downpipe, easily twice as far.
If you already have a good 2.5" and plan on saving the high boost for the track, get an e-cutout. The deal with the e-cutout is that it will lean out the mixture (due to making more power) if you don't get it tuned with it on, and vice-versa with it running it open. In other words, tune 10psi with it closed, and 15psi+ with it open, and only open it at 15psi+.
The other thing you can do is run CromePro with a 2timer (dual maps), or neptune that has dual-map capibility (or so I heard), get it tune w/ and w/o it open, then have the e-cutout connected to a relay that changes the map.

running the dump tube back to the exhaust will help quiet things up as well.
A good design will not yeild to much horspower losses either.

i love the cutout. i just tuned it with the cutout open, and when you boost on it closed you just make a few less psi and it runs a little richer, but lets be honest, if your really gonna hammer on it, you do it open cutout anyway

kteller 3" exhaust i figure would be cheaper than a 2.5 inch exhaust and an e cutout. how much would your whole exhaust setup run you?
