So what again other than a shorter stroke makes this able to rev higher than a normal 2JZ? Stroke is peanuts, and the 2JZ is a relatively short 86mm! I turn my archaic SBF with a 3.875" (that's 98mm) stroke to over 8500 RPM's without even an aluminum rod. Point is, who gives a **** about being able to tell people you can rev to 10K when you can have a motor that goes to 9K and is more fun to drive?

Lay down the crack pipe, son. 7000 for heads/cam? I'm running ETP's 270cc ported LS7 heads in my Corvette with TI/inconel valves and they were a little over 3000 complete. Pretty much the highest flowing LSx series heads you can buy. 450 WHP out of an LS1 motor is a set of decently ported heads (you're looking at 900 + your core), a mild cam, and boltons. 27K for a 550whp motor sounds like your friend went to MTI for one of their Z07 packages, which is a complete motor build from the ground up with everything else you need for it. Clutch, fuel system, tune, the whole works. I built my LQ4 iron block 408 for much less than that, including the 2 nitrous systems, clutch, fuel system, tune, exhaust, etc, and it makes over 550 WHP on motor. New Z06's with the 427" LS7 are doing 550+ RWHP with a cam, longtubes, and a tune. These arn't ferrari motors, you don't need 7 grand to get a set of heads and a cam.

I definatly noticed the 1jz head, so I figured it was probably a 1.5j which is still 3 litres, and he only called it a 2jz not to confuse people on here. but yeah, it must be an overbore 1j.
I'm not trying to start **** but-ARE YOU ******* SMOKING CRACK!! GET YOUR HEAD OUT YOUR ***!!! Have you really looked into the technology of the LS1 and LS7 motors. You're telling me a 2jz which was designed back in the late 80s(designed not manufactured) is better than an all aluminum V8.
I really see why people talk **** about us Honda guys. Because we'll believe anything before researching it ourselves.
Don't get me wrong the 2JZ is the ****!! But it's not in argumentatively close to the LS7!!

So how exactly did you make a 2.6 litre 2jz without destroking? bro im not calling you out man but you say oddball **** like this all the tme, you had a hard time with some of the Nissan guys over at Freshalloy.com because of this same kind of thing.

ok im just guessing but did you put in thicker sleeves and run smaller bore? (omg dont kill me!!!)
also since we're debating motors here...............
ROTARY FTMFW!!! my personal preference would be to keep the rotary where it belonged. but then again im not a baller like some of you here so yah......

Lets see, I know two Supra owners personally that run over 800rwhp on a stock block, one of them has been at that power level for 170k miles, and all he does is standard maintenence. There are many stock block 900rwhp Supras.
Show me one LS* that makes 800rwhp with a stock block, reliably...or hell, even at all.
Secondly, the Getrag on the 2JZ is one of the most stout transmissions you can get your hands on. There are 1200rwhp+ Supras running the stock gearbox.
Been building and working on JZA80 Supras since 2002, I've learned to appreciate good engineering when I see it. Not bashing the LS* engines at all, but saying they are better than a 2JZ...childish.

The block is cast iron, there are no sleeves to put in or take out. im 100% sure its just a 1jz with possibly overbore pistons.

i can see this thread is gonna get outta hand but i will put my two cents in now.
1. destroked motors can be very badass think about F1 cars when is the last time you seen a production 2.4L V8 or 3.0L V10 ??? there is a reason why they do it
2. any motor thats getting built is costly just pick what suits your needs an driving style you think michael schumacher would a 2JZ or ken gushi drive a RB26 ( Renault V8 engine for the lesser informed).
3. theres plenty of stock block LS1's making 800hp easy hey are great motors and well engineered.
4. also why not just get an RB26DETT and drop it in if your looking for a badass motor not knocking the supra i just think they are so overrated kinda like the B16A/B
5. goto http://www.sp-power.com/projec...id=73 and see how its done
6. also guys your over looking that he may have just switched the crank

Considering I have a LSx powered FC in my garage. The motor cost me less than your 2jz. I am making 300ft/tq BEFORE 2500rpm.

Supreme in the fact that it:
1) weighs more
2) longer, throwing the weight off even more
3) higher center of weight
2jz would be a great engine for a drag car. Road racing or anything else, it would suck in that chassis.

Ugh... it didnt go from 100hp to 500hp in the span of 1k rpms. The dyno run started at 4k rpms where it already makes well into the 300's. it only showed 100hp at 4k because there was no load on the motor at that point. then the driver floored it and it immediatly shot up to where it should be. if the dyno started at 2k rpms you would have seen how much fatter the powerband really is. think about it. have you ever seen a supra make only 100hp @4k? not even a stock b16 makes that little at 4k.
That turbo is a 62-1 with a .58 hot side. on a completely stock 2jz, with a slightly bigger exhuast side, and some 264 cams. it would have made slightly more power, even from much lower. and still pull past 7k before dying off. you are not aware of these things because, the motors can hanlde 800+hp. so naturally everyone who modifies supras want to buy the biggest turbos to make those peak numbers. and thats why they have the reputation of being dyno queens. and roll kings.
but I tell you this. with a gt35R or even a 4088 dual ball bearing. these motors have the flattest and longest powerband I have ever seen. only second to a modified rb26.

I actually dont disagree with this statement, I believe the lighter ls1 would be a better candidate for the FD for a more balanced car thats not just limited to straightline acceleration.
