Default 200 hp boosted ls reliability?

Hey guys been doin some research haven't found much on this subject I'm wanting some mild power gains out of my fresh rebuilt ls (91 bottom end 95 top end) 250hp is the top that I want since I don't smash on my car all that often. My question is with regular maintenance can I see my motor go to 100,000 mi plus with out any major mechanical failures ex. Spun bearings, thrown rods, dropped valves etc. I plan on keeping the stock rev limits and everything since my car never sees redline anyway. Thoughts? Kit recommendations? I have a very competent mechanic to do the install

100k miles is a long time but should be fine with a proper tune, for 200-250hp look at the go autoworks street kit

Yup you'll be alright with proper tune and good turbo. Try to get water cooled turbo and intercooler and turbo timer.

Oh ya plan on spending at the very least $1500 on set up and install if not more I'm pretty OCD about making sure regular maintenance stays done and up to date. I drive my car a lot but like I said it rarely sees over 5500 rpm and never touches redline. I just want something that's gonna be reliable but also fun to drive

For sure sounds like a good set up. Is it possible to run that stuff and have the car relatively quiet I.e not sounding like car has an angry beehive under the hood? I'd like it quiet until upper rpm/boost levels wanting the car to be a mild sleeper already have every country bumpkin in a lifted Chevy trying to race and all I wanna do is have fun. Thanks btw for all the info so with all that plus tune I'm probably lookin at more like 2000-2500?

Yes, probably more in the $2000 range. 200 HP is definitely low enough to be fairly reliable. That coupled with quality equipment should give you longevity. If you want quite, I believe you should be able to get that with a decent size exhaust and some muffling equipment. A resonator and a muffler should be enough. Turbos tend to quiet it all down.

Probably some BS base map. I wouldn't get it tuned by your mechanic. I could probably tune it better than what you'd get.

I was gonna budget to have it tuned on a dyno by a reputable shop in Portland since that is the closest place with a decent speed shop but who knows and by "light tune" I ment nothing too aggressive as far as boost levels just wanna be able to get it tuned and be done with it so I can daily drive it. Sorry I couldn't get the right terminology

I would also recomend T-REV in salem too. I hear nothing but good about him and his prices are very fair. I'm having him tune my setup when its ready.

this topic has been discuss quite often already! we seen quite a few high number on a stock setup that is reliable and some not so promising, it all in the tune, the quality of the part your using, how healty your motor is, and was it properly assemble.

Motor is freshly rebuilt 9k ago when turbo is installed I'll be putting a new head gasket and head studs (ARP) get it tuned on a dyno I'm just wanting a fun daily to drive that has more get up and go then stock. I like having power but want it to last as well for sure won't be cutting corners I'm the type that is either do it right or don't do it

You wont need arp head studs and a new head gasket for those power levels. Save your money and get a quality turbo setup/tune.

at 240whp and and a quick uberdata dyno tune (back in '04 lol) my 190k mile ls survived quite a lot of mishaps. anything from thermostat stuck closed on a 150 mile highway drive to bad wideband and running afr's in boost close to 14:1. i daily drove it for close to 2 years, probably 30-40k miles. took it out to go vtec, still had 170ish psi compression.

cliffs: with any kind of reasonable tune and a healthy motor to start it will last quite a while
