Default 1992 Civic Si b16 jdm..

I know the topic is kinda vague on what im talkin about, but im about to get this car, it is a 1992 Civic Si b16 jdm swap with a drag gen 3 kit.

I know about drag kits but the car is clean and compresion is 210 across the board.

Im an old school DSM guy and had a 1993 Talon tsi AWD, this would be my first forced induction honda. I've helped countless friends with turbo h22's and turbo b18's but never had the "pleasure?" of doing it myself.

Right now its running the ghetto fmu and intake walbro pump. Probably just **** rich, but still putting out decent power since it ran a 12.8 on slicks.

What kind of urgency should i take with modding this car? How safe am i going to be tooling around in it and enjoy it like it is.

here are some little specs on it:

The car will run and feel a lot better with Hondata, Uberdata, ETC, but you gotta remember Hondata isn't really all that old. What did people do before hondata? Lots and lots of street turbo hondas were and still are driving around with FMU's. Not the best setup, but it still works. I wouldn't be in a mad rush to ditch the FMU, but as long as it isn't running too lean or too rich it'll be fine.

hey thanks for the input, all my buddies are hondata happy and thats about all they do when tuning hondas (GSR right now runnin 500hp with it) some say the limitations of it are there but I think 500whp is damn good. Shows you really dont need a full AEM stand alone to make some power.

Hondata to start out seems like alot of money to chip your ecu etc. what is a good practicle soultion? I guess im just used to VPC/AFC combo i used to run on my DSM.
It was an easy workable solution. I had upgraded to AEM and was going through the headache of tuning that. being that hte car was AWD it was all street tuning and butt dyno.

Thanks again.

I would go with hondata. i have it on a stock jdm b16 and it is hella fast. it has a sc61 on it and hondata with 1000cc injectors. Mase from here street tuned it at nopi. im going to take it to the track this weekend and see how it does.

I had a b17a motor in it before this one with the vafc hax and DSM 450cc injectors on 10psi with a sc34 turbo and it was nice. ran 8.3@85mph in the 1/8th. it was cuttin out all the way down the track but i was happy with it. Good luck with yours and it looks really good.

I wish i knew more about the hondata, what is an end all price on a setup. I know to do it myself I would have to get an eprom programmer.
If i still lived back where my buds are i would just use theirs and their knowledge. but im kinda on my own on this one.
Who knows maybe i'll have to find some shops in the tampa area and see if its reasonable.

Also what kind of power numbers am i looking to get outta this drag kit? with a good launch in this car with proper fuel control are high 12's low 13's on street tires possible?

i know t3/t4 is a pretty basic combo but wish i knew the efficency rating. hows it compare to mitsu turbos? big16g 20g? 14b? any knowledge is appreciated.

Thanks

Looks like an AFC in the console, is it? If so just ditch the FMU and run the hack...
How much for the car?

Depending on the mileage, and the Miles that are on the swap and turbo kit, But around my area i would imagine a car like that going for 7-8500. It looks really clean. I might even pay more.

here are some pics in the raw. car is kinda dirty.

Btw, it has like 190k on the car and whatever the jdm motor came with + 12k
and turbo has 12k on it.

Also I checked the carfax on the car, and it has been in florida all of its life and I would be the 3rd or 4th owner.

Ya, right now it looks like I am going to get it. I am not paying cash but trading a motorcycle. 2004 GSX-R600 with low milage. Reason im doing that is purely psychological. Had a bad experience last weekend and dont want to see anything like it again and feel that I need to get rid of the bike. I paid a good chump change for the bike but its only worth ~7k now. (www.binaryinc.org/gixxer)

Just wanted to make sure I was getting a fair trade as well as him. So far from what research i've done it seems to be so.

Thanks again you guys
