14b Turbos
I researched the 14b and decided it would probably be a good turbo for my budget project. It flows a little less than the 15g Greddy turbo and I was going to buy that so it wouldn't be a bad choice. The problem is, the 14b's wastegate opens at around 11psi. I did a search and some people said that the spring or actuator could be changed. I checked Greddy's site and the only springs they had were for 11psi. Then I called turbochargers.com to find out if they carried the springs or could put another actuator on it to lower the boost level. The guy said that it was possible but a lot of work (welding, etc). Then I was talking to someone and they said I could just remove the actuator, weld the wastegate hole closed, and then have a manifold done with an external wastegate. Is this possible? Someone help me out here. I'm confused.

Re: 14b Turbos (Bryson)
you can just change the actuatior. and you dont even have to weld on your manni. people have just welded a external waste gate to the outlet flange on the turbo and works fine.
