~GSR transmission that worth it?~
Hey everyone....
Currently i have an LS tranny in my possesion that i have been using for a while. The whole motor/tranny is out of the car and now i am debating whether i should run a gsr tranny.
I know the gsr tranny is better blah blah blah.... but the real question is would it really be worth it to go and sell my LS tranny and go find a GSR tranny? Would i notice a big difference between the two?

I'm moving to a gsr tranny. Just keep in mind that with the longer gears of the LS transmission, running 24.5 inch slicks will benefit you more. GSR trannies allow you to run larger slicks for better traction.

First two gears are the same, and LS 3rd is slightly longer. LS trannies don't "suck".

The FD is different, so they are not the same. And I had no problem with my LS tranny when I was boosted, but you WILL be quicker with a GSR tranny if you can get traction.

Tranny's shouldn't be used to get traction, it would make your car accelerate slower. If you have traction problems get better tires, suspension, LSD, traction bars, staged boost controller, etc...

On the street, with an ls motor it would not benefit you in any way to run a b16 tranny. I'd either run a GSR or LS

i think i'll be going for a GSR tranny now. I might as well since everything is out of the car </TD></TR></TABLE>
My stock LS tranny went out of the car because a countershaft bearing took a dump.
I asked around and found a GSR tranny from a local shop owner who recently did a full ITR swap on his car.
mated to my LS while it was NA i loved it. now that i'm boosted, i love it even more.

its proven mathematicaly and physically, teh shortest gearing possible will give you the fastest acceleration, hands down
whether you have enough traction to harness the movement is another issue

Re: (mrbsponge)
most people dont know that your multiply your final drive number to your particular gear's number, then multiply that number to whatever torque you're engine is putting out at that rpm.
torque multiplication at its best.

I don't see where it mentions what motor he has at all, but with an LS motor revving to stock 7k redline you have a point. With ANY other motor revving to 8-9k it will make a huge difference on the street. Going 100+ mph in 3rd gear is not cool when your racing, which is what an LS tranny would do mated to a B-series vtec motor.
