If the crank is out, what did the upper bearings look like? Were the oil holes installed correctly?

so whats the word on the crank? the engine being 1/2 quart low did not cause this.. how did they know it was low on oil? did you tell them, or were they there when you were on the dyno? you should of checked it again after letting it settle. i'm sorry to hear that you're having this problem after spending all this money. i would take it to a different machine shop to have everything checked because if you take it to them i doubt they will admit guilt even if they're wrong.

thats exactly what im thinking will happen.. my builder is my tuner as well.. he immediately checked the oil after the dyno pull... VTEC was not engaging so i checked it and asked him what he thought... my builder immediately said the engine was low on oil.. no questions asked... and assumed thats why VTEC didnt work... after VTEC engaged then fell off after the next pull... the power fell off entirely after VTEC, and he assumed it was just because of friction that VTEC was making no power..... little did we know.. there were flakes in the VTEC solenoid causing the engine to not make power.

Interesting. Still though, 1/2 court DIDNT do this. Twice, ive checked my oil and there was nothing on the dip stick. Now that's LOW and I still never spun a bearing at 430whp

Isn't he building it... and tuning it? It's his job to monitor the oil in the engine.

True.. But after everyone's comments... This is clearly a crank issue.

I had a stock B17A1 with 340,000km, and it got to the point where there was no oil on the dipstick and i still reved it to redline (stupid me, i know.) and the bottom end was quiet and no metal shavings in the oil. so 1/2quart was NOT the problem for damn sure.
