** The E85 Thread **
no not blaming anything i just took it apart and found a broken rocker and the piston has damage from the valves hitting it idk if it was one or the other. as for holding on i aint pointing a finger at anything. its all me.
as far as e85 the stuff smells real cool. and im going to keep running it if and when i get the motor back together.

go to Hondata's forum, more than likely you are not going to get anything. Just use Gas until you go to your tuner, its much easier.

I honestly don't mind paying $5-$10 more to fill up compared to last year. What I do care about however, is paying $50-$100 more on food/everything else.
It's too bad the damn diesels can't run E85.

recently got my car back out, tuned on E85 20 psi making 467whp.
Its my second year running E85 and i love it, love the price and performance, my motor stays alot cooler with the lower combustion temps.
They recently opened a new station and had their price at $1.60 for a few hours as a promotional deal, i was in line with a bunch of Tahoes and Suburbans

hahaha yeah no ****!!! there are a couple of places in Portland but none that i know of in washington...
well im converting to E85 this week...
my tunner has had great success with it over the past year......and they actually use E98 alot also...so i figured since it is about $1.15 cheaper a galon...and i can get almost the same gas milege might as well go ahead and keep my stock motor safer!!

My solution to shitty gas mileage would be to tune for gas, aggressively tune for mileage and performance, then leave the O2 disabled and switch to E85 leaving the tune the same. Yeah they say you need to be richer with ethanol but has anyone tried this? Alcohol runs a lot cooler and has a higher effective octane rating, so in theory it should be pretty safe to lean out, perhaps even more so than you could with gas. I know on my racing partner's race mower we used ethanol with crazy advanced timing and **** and the IM got frosty and the exhaust coming out was fairly cool considering the 18" long straight pipes. After a while the whole engine started to frost over. BTW alcohol exhaust notes are beastly. It's almost worth it just for the sound. Anyway.. I want to see someone try leaning ethanol out, just to see what happens.

i dont know about that richer part...my tunner said he has ran his car at close to 13.0 AFR and he said nothing has happened yet...he seems to think they like leanner better...

Right, but most everyone you talk to says alcohol needs bigger jets/injectors to squeeze performance out, like a richer alcohol air mix will make more power all the time. What I want to know is could the cooling and octane properties of alcohol allow a safe super lean burn at a cost of power. My intuition tells me that if higher power is possible with alcohol, so would a leaner burn, but what do I know about fuels..?

if i rememebr correctly i read somewhere that E85 has a motor octane of 116..i think...E98 has a motor octane of 126-129? i think...the cooling factor does deffinetly help! from what i know most other "race" fuels dont burn cool like alcohol's do....just touch the injector hat on any top fuel/dragster running methanol after a pass...they are almost iced up...
