Default Question about setting timing with s300.

Ok so I was going to set the timing on my civic that's running s300. I used the set timing feature which sets to 16 degrees BTDC. Ok not the timing light I have has a **** on it to adjust the light. Do I turn that to 16 also or leave that on 0? I have never used a light that has the ****. Thanks.

if you're timed at 16BTDC and set the **** to 0, it should read 16BTDC (red mark). if you set the **** to 16, it should read TDC (white mark).

Right. But with the hondata already setting timing to 16 BTDC should I leave the gun at 0 then?

You are incorrect. The **** on the timing light must be set to the same value you enter in the set timing window. You then adjust the distributor to match.

I might be wrong but
That would apply if you were taking your readings from the TDC mark on the crank pulley.
If you were taking your readings from the 16Deg BTDC mark you would set your timing light to 0.

Exactly. You can do it two different ways with an adjustable advance timing light.

Ok. Well I did it off the 0 mark with the timing light set to 16.
