Default Barely able to get the timing set to 16*btdc???????

Ive got a 94 integra that got a b20b that boosted on 10psi. Its idling with 1000cc PTE injectors at 800rpm. Ive got he service connector jumped and the car is at operating temp. To get it to 16* the dist. is almost fully advanced. what would be the problem? i know its not supposed to be like that.

What kind of timing gun? Are you setting the gun up correctly?

Also what harmonic balancer are you using?

When i set the timing light to 16* its gets so far off. If i leave the light at 0* and advance the dizzy i can get the farthest right of the three marks to come in, which should be 16* right? If i leave the light at 0* and the dizzy in the same place i can line it up on the TDC mark.

This is where its at with the dizzy advanced and the timing light set at 16*

Now if i set the light at 16* this is how far off it is with the dizzy at about the middle of the slot.

I hope i explained the pics right

Alright....

The single mark by itself is TDC.... 0 deg

You want to aim for the middle of the three marks.... 16deg. The marks around the 16deg are 14 and 18deg respectively. Adjust the dizzy to the middle of the three combined marks and line it up with the timing cover mark.... which appears broken. lol

OK, im an idiot, i was looking at the wrong map. Its at 16.50 base in crome. But if i set the light to 16* i cant adjust the dizzy enough to even go to the marks. The only way i can get to the middle mark is with the light set at 0*

you have a timing light that can do advance.

with the light at 0*, your marks should line up in the middle of the 3 together (red).

with the light at 16*, your mark should be at the mark by itself (white)

Ya with the light at 0* i can get it to the middle of the three red marks with the dizzy all the way advanced, and i mean all the way, but its there. I thought the timing belt might be streched so i just went and changed it to a new one and the marks before showed that the belt was a little streched plus it was loose. I just went and did a real good 3rd gear pull and its showing no signs of detonation, and it pulls super strong all the way up. So i dont know, im lost. Its just and LS dizzy that came in the car.

lol, you have a advanced timing light..

if you are just wanting the stock timing which is 16 degrees, you turn that **** all the way counter clockwise to 0...and then line up the timing marks and you are good to go!

you only turn that **** if you want to advance the timing from stock..

If you set the dwell/advance in the timing light, you can time it to the TDC mark for whatever degree incriment you choose; it makes it easier for some ppl.

It probably has to do with you crome chip.. Ive seen that happen in a couple of setups. If you cant advance the distributer far enough, just add timing accross the whole map in crome to make up the difference and remember that you've done that. Either that or try a different code base.

That is only if you no for sure that your timing light is correct

The first thing i would do is get rid of that CTR crank pulley. Its not good for boosted engines. Its known for premature oil pump or bearing failure.
