how to set timing?
this may be a really stupid question, but i've been thinking recently about my spark timing. i set it when i replaced my head gasket(jdm b18c btw) and i've always wondered if i did it right. the book said something like 16 degrees or something, don't remember exactly. how the hell are you supposed to know where 16 degrees is? theres 2 marks on my crank pully, a red one and a white one. i "guesstimated" where 16 degrees was from the white mark. its ran fine since then, but i've always wondred if i did it right. also, i searched so

Re: how to set timing? (littlegreenb18)
ok i just did this man heres how i did it...
1. marked the line on the crank with whiteout so it was easy to see.
2. obviously jump the ecu with a paper clip otherwise the ecu makes the adj automatically
3. set your timing light to 16 degrees (so u were correct with that info)
then loosen the top dizzy bolt and slowly move the dizzy (left or right) till the marks are dead on and tighten the bolt and your done.
its easy but i understand your concern with the timing being right. the ecu will usually be able to make the adj unless its way the hell off. good luck bro

I'm all like, how am i supposed to tell where 16 degrees from the white mark is i did jump the service connecter though. well, time to buy a timing light
btw. whats the red mark?
