Default p28 ecu problems help!

i ordered a chipped p28 from j-k-tuning for my 99 si and conversion harness, the first one i got, a resistor burned up and smoked out the ecu, the 2nd one i got my idle was all bouncny and then i drove it and it was fine till i turned car off for 15 minutes then went to re-start it and it wouldnt turn back on, then j-k said that they tried the ecu in a customers car and it was fine, so i just got my 3rd one today and i started it and the idle was horrible and threw a check engine light. what should i do? what is the problem? is it my car? i dont feel like mailing it back out and going thru this hole thing again, is there a quick fix?

note: car has gsr intake cam, intake, exhaust, 60k miles

I believe this is Michael correct?

If so I did just send you the ecu back. I had this exact ecu in a customers car after a tune because I was finishing up his neptune RTP install into his ecu. He drove his car around for a full week on this ecu with absolutely no problems at all. I then put the ecu into my car and it also ran just fine.

The chip that is on the ecu is an almost stock Crome B16 bin, so unless their is something wrong with the chip that is in the ecu, it is something else.

Can you check the codes via the jumper under the dash? At this point I think it might be something with the conversion harness or something really odd is going on here.

Yes it is, I just plug it in like a hour ago and it was idling real rough and the check engine light was on, I'm going to see if I can get the code checked and I'll post back up. Thanks for all your help!

I just got your voice mail too, I'll call you when i get it checked

Sounds good man. Keep me posted. I just checked the bin I put on the chip and everything checks out.

So if it is a problem with the chip or a solid CEL I will send another one out first thing and I can walk you through putting it in.

i just did a mini me swap on my 90 ef civic. How do i check the p28 ecu for a code? Do i need to wire the ecu to the check engine? or do i just jump the harness underneath the passenger dash?

^^don't jack the thread, start a new one for yourself so the conversations don't get mixed up.

to the OP... do you have another conversion harness to test? Or another car to test the conversion harness and ecu in?
