I bought a chipped P28 ecu something like 1½ years ago and until now it has worked perfect. One day couple of weeks ago it started to throw CEL's like couple times in a week (and ecu goes to limp mode)

1 Oxgen Sensor "A" (Primary)

and

10 Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor

the thing is that we have changed those parts already and my car works ok for a while and then those cels (and limb mode) come back.

Week before this issue started, car got clean emissions.

Is it possible that the ecu has gone bad or something? Even professional here cant really tell that anything else could be wrong with my car. They have checked wirings and all. Does anybody here have any experiences like this? Should I just get new ecu or do you have any thoughts about this....?

More than likely it is not the ECU...

Wiring, grounds, would be a more likely culprit

 

Can you borrow an ECU for a couple of days to test? If it's the car/wiring, it'll happen with the replacement also...

 

sadly nobody here close have chipped ecu, so if I want to check that thing out, I must order a new one from US

 

I have the same exact issue!!!!

 

It does not have to be chipped for a test unless your engine is very different from a stock D16Z6.

 

wiring or ground issue. they didn't check well enough. check the harness all the way back to the ecu pins, make sure the ecu pins and connector contacts are tight. remove and clean the thermostat ground. check your alternator and battery.

 

I think we fixed this problem

the reason for limp mode was the vibration/shake from suspension/chassis which made the chip loose little bit - connection was bad and limp mode was the outcome.

so we just put some rubber under the ecu that there was no metal to metal connection anymore so the rubber would muffle/mute the vibrations/shakes... also we clued some rubber inside the ecus cover that the chip couldnt move anywhere..atleast after these things there has been no problems and car has worked just fine

 

if you pull the ecu pins out of the plug and push down the contact arm inside the pin it'll stop the connection problem. It's only a matter of time until it gets worse, you should do it sooner rather than later.
