Default Need Haltech experts HELP PLEASE

Alright I have a good friend who has a VW golf with the 24 valve VR6, now the motor is a 15 degree angle block so it's almost an inline 6. Now he has wired the coils for his haltech how they suggested to him, and we are trying to get the car started and put in an acceptable map but we are at a road-block. What would you all suggest we do, mind you this is a factory coil on plug setup, and we are retaining as much as the factory wiring as possible. Like I said this is my friends car if it were up to me I would tell him to drop a h22 in the bay and be done with it.

What we are trying to overcome is how to set the haltech up for the ignition sequence, the maps i mean and does anyone have any maps that are a good starting point

since the engine is a 15*v the biggest issue is figuring out at what points is each cylinder up or down in degrees in reference with the 60-2 trigger wheel. It makes sense that allot of v engines are @ 120* and at 0*= 1 ,120*=2 ,240*=3 ect . but because this engine is so close to being a straight six I the owner with the vr6 am confused on what to put in the area for calculating these amounts. stock coils are probably going to have to go if I cant get any spark out of them for ls1 back ups I have.Fuel is semi sequential . But i am trying to figure this out . thanks for anyone's help

Ok dude I sat down and did some research, now in mechanical terms the journals of the crankshaft are seperated at 22 degrees from each other. Now my question is does the haltech allow you to set ignition timing seperate per cylinder??

for example this being a six cylinder engine you would in essence divide the 62 tooth trigger wheel by 6, which would leave you with a fire off every 10.33 teeth, now being that it's a 15 degree engine I don't know if you would have to add 15 extra degrees to the front or the rear cylinders and as far as your overall adjustments, then you could do that in a batcj format, catch what I am saying???

yeah i get you i am going to look more into the coils . but what you are saying makes sense . actually it has 58 teeth with 2 missing .did a little of my own research thanks wikipedia never thought i would use somthign from the site for this but here it is

"The centerline of the cylinders are also offset from the centerline of the crankshaft by 12.5 mm. To accommodate the offset cylinder placement and narrow "Vee" design, the connecting rod journals are offset 22° to each other. This also allows the use of a 120° firing interval between cylinders. The firing order is: 1, 5, 3, 6, 2, 4."

and thanks to bakber's old thread on motorgeek http://www.motorgeek.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19829 might be able to use the stock idle control motor in the throttle body .

more info on the coils the 1.8t coils have the same wiring diagram on the schematics found in mitchell i think the mistake i have is for pin two i don't think they share a common ground in the stock wiring anymore . http://home.comcast.net/~whaussmann/...ilPacks_v3.htm

The 4 pin 1.8t 06B 905 115 L Coil Packs have their pins numbered. The function of these
four pins is as follows:
Pin 1 = switched power to the primary side of the coil - connect to the yellow power input
wires on the firewall metal connector rack via the scrounged VW three pin O2 sensor
connectors from item No. 8 in the parts shopping list.
Pin 2 = Ground for built-in Power Output Stage - connect to pin number 2 (brown white
wire) of the 4 pin connector feeding power output stage (POS) N122 (the one for
cylinders 1,2 and 3). Use one of the regenderized Jetta III taillight connectors (shopping
list item No. 7) to make these connections to the OE ECU to OE POS four pin
connectors, as per the pin-out below.
Pin 3 = The 5 V DC signal from the ECU to control the POS switch. Use the
regenderized Jetta III taillight connectors (shopping list item No. 7) to make these
connections to the OE ECU to OE POS four pin connectors, as per the pin-out below.
Pin 4 = Secondary Coil Ground - connect to corner bolt of cam cover where the OE coil
pack ground was located. Use a ring-type terminal under the bolt.
