Innova Can obd1&2 code scanner problems need HELP
The scanner does not want to link to my ecu.... the connector on my car to link up is obd2 but my ecu is a p28 chipped ecu obd1 ... it has a jumper harness to convert it . my engine b20vtec gsr head is obd2 , ecu obd1 so the jumper harness converts it so it will run.... is there anyway for me to hook this up so it will read ?????? bc it wont link to the damn ecu and my problem is not going away dispite putting new spark plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotor ......
Car idles at 800 rpms... then after a little rev goes to 200rpms.... when i put it in gear and drive ... once i get going the rpms jump 2000-3200rpms and the engine actually changes rpms with it.... then the car will either shut off or ill push the clutch in and the car will stay on..... the car also at idle will shut off after i throw a couple rev's not high rpm revs wont take it there bc im worried more like in the 2000-5000rpm range... NEED help dont have the money at the moment to take to a race shop... i will listen to all posts .... car has been like this for almost a month. before that she ran like a champ. Thank you .

An OBD2 scanner will not communicate with an OBD1 ECU.
Is the CEL on?
Where did you get the car tuned initially? If it is ECU/tune related you should take it back to them and have them take a look at it for you.

I'm stuck at this point too. How would I read my cel codes? I have a 98 ek with a obd2 harness and p28 with a conversion adapter.
If the MIL light is hooked up you could Jump/short the SCS connector or ECU pins D4 and D22 and count the CEL flashes. It's just like doing the OBD1 Civic/integra self diagnostics test.
Sorry, should probably find out how much you do understand before I get to technical. Are you familiar at all with the paperclip trick for retrieving codes from an OBD1 Civic/Integra? Or how to actually read the CEL flashes when they come up?
There is a really good write up on H-T somewhere about how to read OBD1 codes. However that may or may not help you. I'm not sure if all the OBD2 cars have an SCS connector. I know some of them do.

It worked the same for me before I switched to an obd1 ecu with a jumper harness.
