Default D16z6 problems

Hey everyone just looking for some advice on and issue I'm having with my ej1. I was driving one night and I went to pass someone when my gas pedal got stuck under the floormat when I went to shift gears the revs redlined for like 4 secs and then the engine shut off. Ever sense then I've been having an issue with my car. The day after for example, it was idling weird and once warmed up it won't hold idle when it accelerates and then I come to a stop. As well as a ticking noise coming from the engine but unclear exactly where it comes from but sounds like it comes from the intake side of the head. I did a compression test and it came back 180, 175, 175, 175. I'm thinking its a bent valve or a spun bearing and the ticking I'm hearing is rod knock but I'm not sure.
Well anyways here's my main question. Is it worth just fixing the engine or rebuilding it? Or would It be better to just buy an already rebuilt engine for 600 or better to get a used jdm replacment. Keep in mind my source of tools is limited and I'm working a part time minimum wage job. Any info or advice would help thanks

Oh and also one of the coolant hoses under the distributor swelled up and was leaking I haven't driven it since then the day after the first incident. Just thought I should throw this in.

could be a variety of issues. hard revving can affect the valve train, timing belt/tension, bearings, rings, or simply have fouled out your spark plugs. just go through the general repair manual troubleshooting and narrow it down.
is it worth rebuilding, only if you've done it before. otherwise no, especially if you don't have the right tools.
