Default AEM UEGO

When i was being tuned my car was reading 11.3-11.5 in full boost according to my tuners recently calibrated wideband. I have the AEM UEGO and it use to read properly on my old setup and now it doesnt. could my aem sensor being going bad? is it possible that my old "leaking oil" turbo could have damaged the sensor from oil getting on the sensor?

If you have a lot of oil in the exhaust, yes that can definitely wear out the sensor prematurely.

Yeah you might as well replace it... they only run 80 bucks new from any performance shop i just got a new one myself... race gas kills it too. Its a Bosch sensor.

PS- i just joined this site 5 mins ago... how does this rating system go? this site told me if I don't lose points right away after 5 days they will give me full status so i can post a classified ad.... I have a set of 450cc Blue Top Injectors off my 93 Talon TSi AWD. Really i just need to sell them so they aren't laying around in a bag. I just want to post an ad for $70 shipped. Thanks... somebody please let me know so i can get the full access thing this week and post it.

So instead of following the rules that you have clearly read, you post an add in a tech section.

The AEM widebands aren't known for being constantly accurate.I am using a NGK wideband that was recommended to me.It is very consistent. It's not uncommon to see widebands reading 16-17:1 at idle.It doesn't take much fuel to change the idle a/f ratio.

really so what do most people recommend as there widebands that are accurate. id like it to be a gauge like what I have so it looks relatively clean. i really like the aem gauge i just wish it was more accurate.

Mine has been perfectly accurate in the year that I have been daily driving on it. I know it's accurate because it matches up with my smog readings (you can use them to calculate your afr).

I know of dyno shops that use them for tuning.

FYI Bosch makes the UEGO sensors not AEM. AEM only covers products they make, so if you're running too rich, mounted the sensor poorly, driving around with a bad turbo, or a bad tune, the sensor will prob crap out on you pretty fast and AEM will not cover it.

That "test" doesn't get the same results as my real world experience. Many others have have also said that they don't agree with those test results.I think the NGK that I am currently using is a far better unit than the AEM I was previously using.I don't think I am alone with that opinion.

I've used the AEM unit for over 4 years now and replaced the sensor once. Many will agree that the AEM UEGO is worth every penny. But then again it's all preference. Hey if you like the NGK then it's all gravy. Many will say the Innovative is better then any wide band out there. It might be, but I'm happy with my AEM unit.

The sensors will start reading incorrectly if they get oiled down from a bad turbo or a blown motor. Replace the sensor and all will be fine.

The best way to think of the life of the sensor is pair it with your spark plugs. On OEM cars they will both go 100,000 miles. But if your car consumes spark plugs then it's also consuming 02 sensors. they both get fouled by the same stuff and at approx the same rate.

You can find them for around $65 each all over the place (AEM 30-2001)

IMO You cant go wrong with the AEM. It's as accurate as the best out there and a heck of allot cheaper to buy. ==> http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...tout/index.php

Just like your plugs, your O2 sensor is fouled. Fix the problem then replace all of them and you will be fine.

I had an aem wideband....read about .2 off of my plx wideband I had previously, no big deal.

The problem I had was that I could not get a matched reading from the display itself to the 5v output voltage for datalogging. You can search aem's forum and there are plenty of others out there with the same issue. If I remember it was close to matching around 13-14 afr....but off almost a full point at 10-11 afr.

I then bought a NGK wideband and have not had that problem. Even using the same source voltage to power it up. It shows on the datalog exactly what it shows on my meter.

Well I love my AEM wideband. It seems pretty accurate too according to my plugs. The only problem I know they have is that the computer logs different values than the wideband is showing.

IMO Innovate Motorsports LC-1 is the way to go....The LM-1 WB controller is fully programmable. The LM programmer software makes it easy to custom program the two LC-1 analog outputs. ......Works with almost every data acquisition hardware on the market........
