There is no way that a sensor should go bad in a week or two thats just rediculous.Race gas will definitely reduce the life but proper placement of the sensor and proper use will help it last a while.I am at a year and a half and on my first sensor.

Well your having better luck than alot of people I know with them whos are not just a fluke/ faulty/ bad placement/ etc. They kills sensors left and right on their AEM units, they last maybe 6-8 months on their weekend driven cars. On one of the more daily driven cars I know of with one, it lasted 3 1/2 months.
Of the half dozen friends with them that I am talking about, all were on pump except the 2 evos that were on pump but also had methanol injection setups.
No personal experience though with the AEM first hand, just through friends. I have run a Zeitronix in the past but removed it in favor of the more simple NGK unit that suited my needs better. Also have experience with a FAST dual sensor setup on a domestic application.

Also just as a sidenote, some have had better sensor life if they let the unit warm up the sensor for a short period before starting the car... per some online discussion about it on another board.

Re: aem wideband bosch sensor dead
very true, my sensor is a good amount of distance from the turbo, right on the backside of my oil pan to be exact. I think AEM recommended 18" but I dont think it needs to be that close, ill just make the tune .2 richer and be done with it to be safe.

Re: aem wideband bosch sensor dead
damn, I was starting to feel bad, I am still on my first sensor after having it for 3 1/2 years. I might get a new sensor when I get retuned though but as far as the sensor goes, I haven't had any problems. old style also. does not disconnect from gauge portion.

Re: aem wideband bosch sensor dead
there is no real way to make it calibrated for everyone. different sea levels
the amount of oxygen i get here in south texas is way diff from someone in denver gets. If we both had the same sensor the would be calibrated differently

Re: aem wideband bosch sensor dead
i never calibrated mine but if it's like the one i have now the sensor needs to warm up to operating temp in open ambient air.
then twist the **** on the inside of the guage. but i would call AEM and ask i dont remember reading it in the directions or i just ignored it.
but it does need to be calibrated
