Just learning
Hey guys just trying to learn a little more. so I'm looking into a b16b swap for a project and i was trying to learn more about what rods and pistons are best output for n/a. iv noticed a lot about floating pistons but i don't quite understand. do they still need roods? what would be the best pair? any info would help thank you

Re: Just learning
A factory Honda wrist pin is pressed in. Some after market rods and pistons use what is called a full floating wrist pin, which uses a c-clip or sur-clip to retain the wrist pin.
To give you a better idea of what piston and rod would work best more information is needed. What is the end goal of your engine build?
And yes you will always need a connecting rod, unless you want a rotary engine. It connects the piston to the crankshaft.

You can have factory rods machined to use full floating pins but if you plan on doing anything crazy buy some rods. And how much power you can make all depends on how deep your pockets are.

Unless your getting a great deal, i would not spend the money for a b16b myself. For about the same price, you could have a nice b20 Vtec that would destroy a b16b.
I have a b16b in my civic right now. I'm not that impressed honestly. but I've had 2 liter engines before that were way faster than the b16b. I think your paying for the rarity of the engine more so than the performance. Don't get me wrong, a b16b is fun to zip around in revving to 9k rpms but I'd take a bigger displacement engine anyday.
