Re: Best Brands..... rods/pistons (Targa4Life)
Targa: Many of the popular piston brands are very good in that HP range you are building the car for. Arias Pistons, CP, JE, Wiseco are the main popular ones for Sport compacts. Its all preference and if they have the application and size you are looking for.
As far as rods, there are several to choose from also. You have the popular Eagle rods which can hold pretty good amount of power up to 600hp to the wheels. That is the most economical priced rod for average use. Then you have your Pauters, Crower, Cunningham, Carrillo, and Manley rods. I personally feel those rods are for the more higher HP setups or if you are looking for an All motor rod that is specifically built as lightweight for that application.
In many of our builds, we mainly use Arias pistons and Eagle rods. Its a reliable combo that we have used in engines making 600-650hp. It would be perfect for what you are looking at making. If you need pricing, let me know. we have a special on the combo set right now.
as far as rod bearings, you can either use ACL or OEM Honda bearings. That again is preference as well. some builders like to use ACLs, while we like to use the OEM since they are available in difference sizes so we can put in the proper size to make the right clearances.
