Default B16A Engine

I inherited an engine need to find out more about it. I can take a pic if needed, but for the most part all internals and from what I can tell the water and oil pump are all new. How can I tell if work was done to the pistons or anything aftermarket or was just rebuilt oem. Pistons and sleeves look brand new as well just dont know if all stock or aftermarket since is JDM engine. What is something like that worth?

Pistons look aftermarket. Block looks sleeved. Too bad it's a b16 block. All the other b series blocks (except b17)are taller making them more desirable.
If it's been sleeved and has forged pistons, it most likely has aftermarket rods. Depending on who assembled it, it could be a engine with alot of potential.
You could probably sell it for $1500 quickly if you just want to unload it. Probably has over $2000 in parts alone. Whoever buys it I assume would tear it down and recheck everything.
Location will influence the market price a bit as well.

I can take more pics If someone can narrow this down and give me a good asking price. Also in box was 84mm headgasket new in wrapper. I dont know if that helps out at all. Just let me know what to do to get this figured out. TY

the only way to know is by getting part numbers....you could try pulling the oil pan looking for part numbers or branding on the rod and also the piston. Then what you do is type the part number in to google and press enter and boom it tells you what part it is and how much its worth

Would need pics of the crank shaft markings, any markings on rods, and any markings on bottom of pistons to try and ID the parts.

Kinda look like eagle rods. Crank looks stock. Any markings on the bottom of the pistons?

"inherited" ?!?!

Make sure you keep the surfaces protected by something, pick your poison. I used WD-40 and saran wrap.

I plan on sleeving my b16 to 84-85mm.You keep your perfect rod/stroke ratio but kick your displacement up to 1.8l . Where are there's parts located?
