Sorry guys but my opinion on "metal/hardcore" drumming: it is nothing more than a "noise fest" or a physical endurance test. See who can drum the fastest ... double kick the fastest ... blah blah blah. BORING.

Carter Beauford OWNZ ME!

Jazz-fusion drumming: sounds simple, looks simple - but by far the most technically structured.

Edit* for the fourth time: can't get MP3 to work.

Go listen to bands like mudvayne and slipknot and tool, and listen to the drumming, it isnt just a noise fest, alot of it is very complicated if you actually listen to the musical aspect of it and not the "this is just a bunch of noise" aspect of it.

so you're saying you can play beats with hi hats faster than the snare and bass but you can't play beats when you have the hihat go slower than the some of the snare or bass hits? yeah, that's a pretty common thing. just keep practicing it.

learn to do it with your hi hat and bass drum first with a really simple beat. go real slow at first, and slowly speed it up. one day it will just "click".

in no time you'll be doing diddles on the hi-hat and then whatever you feel like on bass and snare all at the sametime..it's easy

start by learning the easiest beat of all . . the 4-beat. Thats what I learned first. After you are comfortable with that then you can put in your fillers.

1st beat = high hat and kick (one)
2nd beat = high hat only (two)
3rd beat = high hat and snare (three)
4th beat = high hat only (four)

then you start all over

You can snaz it up a little with kicks on 1 and 2 or 4 and 1 or double kicks in between

ANybody else have mpegs of there beats besides Malice...by the way Malice, you got some pretty cool beats in there.
