please explain to me how drifing would be worse for your tranny and motor opposed to regular racing?
Now drifting is no longer a unintended consequence (most often unless you are gay), but it is a different type of racing? Maybe in GT2 when you pick "Regular" (or something like that) or "Drift" mode. I'll stick with "Get around the track fastest giving zero condideration to stylish drifts" mode, thank you.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

Yes, I do know that drifting is not the fastest way around BUT it is so much fun!!!

I would rather be drifting than driving on the best possible line.

Drifting in a M3

Drifting in a Lancia Delta Integrale

Drifting in a Ford Cossworth RS500

Ahh, I see drifting is hated because it is in the same catecory as altezzas, neons, and Ractive Mufflers...

I am not a ricer that prefers style over function... but different strokes for different folks... As I said before speed is not everything. If I had my choice of a Ferrari, or a Honda that was faster, I would take the Ferrari.

Is it still gay if the person doing it knows he isn't going fast, and is just doing it because it is a good time?

Some of us are going to think so, but hey, that someone shouldn't be doing it to make us like it... he/she should be doing it because they like it. Duh!

That's the same answer I give when someone asks about clears, or the wiper nozzle lights... as long as they like it, they shouldn't care whether I think it's dumb.

Damn, Type C got seriously smacked.

4-whell drift works wonders in the uphill portion of VIR in my car but like Cobra said, totally unrealted to what we're talking about.
Um, no. WTF is your problem? IF you bothered to read both posts, you'd see that we are agreeing on the issue, and that the language is different. I think I smell another hater if you've got a problem, IM me instead of making yourself look like a fool time and time again.

Well actually I wasn't intending to smack you around but what you were talking about wasn't drifting . . . not even slightly. I explained what you were talking about which really has nothing to do with drifting.

I'll say it.

I like drifting. It's fun to do (read: fun to attempt in other people's cars ) and fun to watch. Drifting gets a IMO.

you and I agree with what is useful and not useful. To me drifting is when you break traction in the rear for a period of time. It's all terminology. I was talking to Mr 14 second there who seems to like to jump in with meaningless insults for no reason.

I may drift for like some video showing off my car or something but that is to show it off and to grand stand... not to race.

Ill say it too,
I LOVE drifting
And i LOVE track racing
TWO DIFFERENT THINGS
now, if someone tells me its ghey or whatever, doesnt matter to me, its still fun. from my point of view, they are just missin out in some real fun.
Who cares if its not the fastest way around the corner? Im not drivin to become the fastest or anything, just having fun, and its one of many ways that i have fun.

I understand that Cobra HATES drifting cause of whatever reason, but since im in japan, im influenced with these stuff 24/7. More like, there is not much professional racers that havent gone through drifting in some form or another. F1 driver, GT driver, whatever, most of the japanese drivers have went through some form of drifting. whether they started for fun, or what i dunno.

So why hate it that much?

EDIT:
oh and, i do FF drift as well as FR drift. FF drift needs E-brake, and someone said e-brake drifting is ghey, but you use E-brake just to start off the drift, not the whole time. its like, Pull, release, Pull, release.

Because I THINK it looks stupid and it does not amuse me.

I also have a theory as to where drifting got started and why:

How many Japanese drivers are in the top 10 of the F1? How about CART? IRL? WRC? SCCA WC & Trans Am? Grand Am? ALMS? Touring Cars OUTSIDE of Japan?

Why is that? Could you explain it to me? Is it because they are all staying in Japan to drift and make Options videos?

But why make it sound as if drifting is all stupid and things while you dont know anything about it?

Ok, i gotta go to sleep now cause i have to work tomorrow. (duh, its already 4am here)

But here is my point
why do people skateboard? for fun
Why do people play soccer? for fun
Why do people ride their motorcycles? for fun
So why do people drift? FOR FUN

If something wasnt fun why in the world would anyone do it?

Personally i dont like baseball, so do i go on dissin that sport? NO!
So why talk **** about drifting? Some people have fun with this, and cant you just understand that?

And another thing id like to add before i go to sleep.
I started to understand ricers, and dont give a **** about them anymore. Cause if they dont bother me, im not bothered by them. I dont like too much bling bling, but thats what they like so who cares? People all have different tastes, so why talk **** about them? I think same comes to drifting.

Ok, im done, going to sleep

i think that drifting in drift competions is pretty cool. of course nobody is going to drift in a real race. there is too much room for error and its dangerous when there are other cars around. so i think that everything has its time and its place. drifting should stay on the track during a drift event.

Ukyou Katayama? Hahaha! He was never top 10 in anything other than Le Mans.

What is funny is how I can say something as simple as "drifting is gay" and all of you jump up and down screaming about how great it is.

Lemmings I tell ya!

Yes true style is a factor in drfit competions, but skill his a HUGE factor as well. You haters like to talk all this smack saying how drifting is for style and it's gay. I'd like to see you control a high speed drift going over 80mph. And drifting with 4 other cars behind you.

I never said it didn't take skill. Never ONCE did I say that. What I did say is:

I THINK drifting looks gay!

I'd get passed if I drifted with 4 cars behind me.
I don't think the Auto-X workers would like that either.
