thats funny....
they are big in the wrx world.... well actually i havnt been around in over a year so i'm not sure if anyone is still using them....
they work like the afc only with alot more parameters to adjust.... and theres also boost controll options, if i recall correctly no boost by gear.... i am not sure if it only works on ecu's that already are controlling boost tho..... but you might be able to controll a stepper motor through it for boost, it does have a few interesting features.... you can view a 3d map for both fuel and timing.... and probably the best thing about it is that u can adjust timing....
now for the :thumbs-down:
they are hard to tune.... you need a laptop.... and you cant buy the equipment to tune them, only dealers are allowed to tune them.... and they are still piggyback, even tho they are THAT expensive..

Its a good tool, especailly if your in a place where you need to be running the stock ecu for Emmissions scanning. Its give you control of revlimit, timing, fuel, n20 control, boost, etc, but still in piggyback form.

you can lower rpm limit but you canot increase it... n2o control, boost, etc you need to buy extra drivers for theese things along with the solenoid for the boost controler...

there is deffinitley better options for hondas for sure... i would never in my life go with a unichip for a honda unless i was a dealer with my own dyno...

the car in question is a crx weighing 2250 with driver, it had an ls/vtec, and an SCI Motorsports stage 2 kit with a t3/60-1, from cheap turbo. the tial wastegate was setup with a 5.8 psi (little red spring). the tune was very conservative and on 93 octane at san antonio raceway.
we tune the unichip the car was not tuned on a dyno

I totally believe that. I had a stock GS-R in the GS-R chassis with a drag kit (no boost controller) and I did 12.80 @ 99 where the boost pipe popped off at the 1000' mark. I turned teh car off and coasted across, and that's up here at 6000ft.
I'm sure with a lighter chassis and a larger turbo it's more than possible.
But on topic, I think a better option would be to save up a little more money and get something like AEM so you can tune it w/o the dealer.

There is a local tuner here that tunes with the unichip and i was told that rev limit could be raised but you will need to by another plug-in for it, i believe it wa another $50 dollars.

the cost of the whole setup rivals with hondata's cost and can be tuned just as easily. we tune unichip and the reason we went with unichip is the diversity of the system. we can run them on anything from a ford diesel to a porche 996 to a geo. with proper instalation and knowledge on the system you can provide water injection, progressive nitrous and progressive boost control. even though you have to purchase different modules for the rev limiter and vtec crossover, the cost of theese modules is inexpensive and are readily available. just like hondata it is best to have an authorized tuner instal and tune the unit.
They make/design them locally a few kilometres from where I live(South Africa), these were one of the first if not the first piggy back systems ever... its no standalone, but it works well if the tuners know what they are doing. I've heard of two local boosted honda motors blowing up, but turbo honda motors are only a handful here and people don't really know how to tune them yet, so I'll blame it on the tuner in that case...
If dastek tuned it I don't think there would have been a problem.
