Default plug gapping question

hey guys i have a pump gas (e85) car with a 42R,1600cc injectors, inline and intake pumps, stock ignition system (no box or coil) w/aem ems..... im running NGK #10 plugs now and i pulled them after having the car tuned and there .016gap i feel as if thats CRAZYYYYY tight i was think that like .023 to .028 would be correct, the car like i said is on e85 and 18psi

just curious what you think or are running on your car?!

thanks for any input

if thats what the car was tuned with to run well and avoid spark knock then id leave it at that.

if it helps i run .020 gap with a 60-1 18 psi on 93 octane

You need to have the gap that small so you don't blow the spark out causing a misfire. When you get a high output ignition system you can open the gap.

yea i plan on buying the AEM ignition but just like everything else $$ is in my way haha, but yea my concern came from the motor is kicking back on cold starts... gives me one revolution and then kicks back on the starter i mean it pulls through it but diffently is a large issue, my assumuption is that its over loading fuel A:because there 1600cc injectors and B: because the spark gap is so small, any input?

i think it is i feel as if there gapped or a "race fuel" and the e85 isnt igniting fastenuff, last time on e85 with 22psi on a 67HO 595whp they were gapped .022 with flawless performance i mean the car was goin low to mid 140s ever pass and did about 15,xxx miles on that set up....

we were planning for a low 700whp # on e85 this time but the clutch wasnt having anyparts in it... made 630 and had to back it down a lil to keep it from slipping, but new clutch now i guess just need to get it back to the roller and see what happens

.016-.017 is exactly where I am at with E85, if that is where Jeff set it then leave it there. I went into my tune with the plugs around .020 and they blew out right around 18lb boost. I bet you gap it up to .020 it will blow out, time for COP son

Also it could be that the battery is weak or maybe the starter on the kick back issue, its been sitting in my car for months and it sat in James car for a year before that.

I guess it is, gotta remember your dealing with 1600cc injectors *cough* nossles with a tight plug gap, its not going to start like it did with the 1000's and a larger gap.

The gap of the plug really shouldnt have anything to do with how the car starts, its more about spark blowing at at boost/power levels.

that is what 1600's do, if you saw a chart of a 1600cc's flow rates at idle and compare them to a 1000cc you would laugh.
