Default Pantyhose Air Filter

So I have an Iceman Air Force Scoop.

It's the headlight intake for the 92-95 Honda Civic.

I use it only for track use. However, what if I don't want dirt to get inside.

Would putting panty hose between the air force scoop and the tube that runs to the throttle body work?

Does anyone have any better ideas?

EDIT:

I would like to know if anyone has try to implement a filter on a hoodscoop intake. Some tracks are dirty, and I would not want any small pebbles or anything to get inside. The filter would most likely have to go between the headlight scoop, and the pipe that eventually leads to the throttle body.

You can use mesh from screen doors. The pantyhose would work but may not look too good . When running an open air intake you just don't want pebbles and such to go into the intake. Dirt is going to get in no matter what. Thats why changing oil frequently on a race car is very important. Anything that works as long as it doesn't restrict airflow is good in my book.

I think panty hose would get sucked in rather quick. I agree with wire mesh or screen.

air filters will allow more cfm than panty hose or mesh. It has been tested many times in many mags. The filters are pleated and folded and have much more available surface area. Just use a filter. THat and i do have an iceman you need the filter to provide the radius into the intake tube otherwise it air hitting the blunt edge of the intake.

Wow. Panty hose as a filter. Haven't seen anyone do that since high school when import racing was just coming out and no one made intakes for them yet. Good old PVC piping and panty hose.

You can probably try modifying HKS Universal Replacement filter inserts. It might actually work out ok and not bad for 19.00

if you use pantyhose for an air filter your exhaust might smell a little fishy
