look here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1146308

people pull 1.6-1.8 60's with open diff...makes u wonder if lsd is really worth $1000+ to buy/install....

civicguy in that thread said "we have run without it 10.9 put a quaife on it 10.8 stock axles too"

so for .1 difference i can think of better parts to spend your money on...

fyi courtney green in utah runs 10.14... street car with stock axles and open diff

dont worry....most people get all mad and say use the search...problem is no one explains how to use the search engine....they just assume people know...most the time you have to select archived to get results

Props for the very civil response rarely seen on HondaTech.

But back to the topic. I plan on using 22x8x13 slicks with my USDM GSR in a hatch. open diff and stock axles. You just gotta hope it will hold up. I'm sure eventually the diff will take a ****. Maybe you'll be lucky.

Look on the bright side, open diff. trannies are cheaper to replace when you blow them up .

umm... ive broken 2 already. one on bfs and one on 22' tall slicks. with a b16 trans. one hydro and one cable. you can try it, but u may not make it home. i have a qauife f/s for a hydro b16. if ur interested give me a pm.

oh... ive ran gsr trans on slicks too. those hold up much better. probably due to their size. its bigger than a b16 trans. havent broken a gsr open diff yet.

i know how to launch. i think that i am a pretty good driver.

put some slicks on and launch at 7k-8k and ull see what i mean. its the best rpm to launch. trust me.

first of all, anyone can pull 1.8's on slicks, that is by no means a great accomplishment. either way, it doesn't mean you are launching right... you are obviously putting to much stress on your drivetrain.

i pulled a 1.68 60 ft with a GSR tranny and stock diff. with stock axles, 355whp sidesteping at 7250rpms. never broke an axle or anything in the tranny. This is with an act 6-puck clutch.

the weakest diffs around are the 99-00 Si trannies. i bought a busted Si tranny from a friend and have put an OBX LSD in it. I just need to replace a few more bearings and i can try it out.

see what you mean? i own slicks
and a 1.8 60....my point proven...learn to launch....anyone can pull 1.8 60's on slicks after a couple practice runs....hell just dumping the clutch at 7,500 on my m&h 22's pulled 1.8's
