The amount of people who fly in for this is awesome, we don't see that for Sport Compact events that's for sure!I'd be down for a big money HR race for sure, I'm sure Steve and Kevin would be as well. I welcome those AWD guys to have a shot as well, as long as Kiggly doesn't show up. That thing is too smooth
I'm all in. I would love to do whatever I can to help. I'm a much better event promoter than I am a racer unfortunatley
Who do we need to talk to get the ok for this? Javier?

Etown Pro Outlaw 2010 is kinda far. If there was to be another West Coast outlaw race(not necessarily Utah) around spring, that would be a good date to shoot for to do a Outlaw / Pro event.
Someone has to setup the 2010 West Coast Outlaw race in Vegas. Thats the track to be at in the Spring.
Like someone said, HR/ProFWD cars are mostly based outside of that NorthEast states. There are a few out there, but the majority are away from that area.
The possible racers are Kenny(TX), Seitsinger(OK), Garcia(CA), CFT civic?(FL), JJ Olson(CO), Leevon(CA), Brian ProFWD(TX), Irran(TX), Brent(CO). These guys are the ones that can possible come out of retirement that we all want to see. Theyre mostly closer to Vegas than Etown. Who do you have that can show up in Etown for that class? Dave(PA)... who else?

I think alot of us have forgotten what it was like to get a car together in your backyard, finally get it to the track, and run a number. Some of us do not have the money to pump into a race car, no let me rephraze that, ALOT OF US DO NOT HAVE THE $$$, but we love racing and want to get in where we fit. Problem is, there just isnt that many classes or races where we can do that other than maybe some grudge racing with whatever we can compete with, or the street racing that has been going on forever.
sorry for the ranting........

Hell even stick us on BFG's that seemed to really level the playing field. I competed very well with just 500whp. That was alot of fun. Although seeing an awd on street tires going 10.1 gave me a sadface
I would still be in the for 61mm class or a 61mm BFG DR class. At MIR it was a 66.5 mm class and there was a car that still went 9.40 (crazy).

I agree with Joe. Give some of the racers a class where it will really level out the playing field such as a BFG class and maybe limit turbo sizing or something to get most people on the same page. Also, do not allow cars that can hook up and launch on a flippin gravel road to enter and annihilate the comp............
Well, most of the guys that I know that do anything on the street with a turbo honda have 235-60-15" MT's or M&H's or they use the old trusty 225-50-15" BFG.
I think that a class would have a good turnout for us street guys that run mid 10's to 11's. I wont go and compete against SFWD cars. Its just not worth it to me, wouldnt even be fun. Get a class together where you all have to run the same tire and get a little set of rules together where the class can be competitive with out a certain group being able to run away with it, and I think it would be a decent class. Randy has been talking about this as well as others.

your ONLY chance for a big payout is to get an energy drink company to foot the bill. The drifters had a big race in Long Beach last year, and had 17 drivers from around the world fly in for the race (including 15 local drivers) that was sponsored by Red Bull. The total prize payout was $50k, although I'm sure Red Bull probably paid more than 7 figures for the sponsorship. The event was confirmed in July, and happened the week after SEMA in November. Many of the drivers came over early and went to SEMA. That might be a good time / location to have it.
The problem with Drag Racing is that you have so many different classes with different rules, you don't have the same type of match ups. Having drivers compete for the title of "world champion" only the top 3 drivers get paid is easy when you only have 32 drivers in 1 class. When you have 6 classes, each one with only 5-10 cars (let's face it - which of these 'pro' classes would have more than 10 cars?) makes it harder for a sponsor to shell out big cash.
The only people spending the money on the youth market right now are the energy drink companies. Look at X Games - 95%+ of the athletes were sponsored by an energy drink company. 5 or 7 years ago, the statistic was the other way (only 5% had an energy drink sponsor, if that).
With budgets the way they are, it takes 6 months to a year to get money out of a sponsor. If you want to have the event in 2010, you need to get a location and date locked down in the next 2 months, and you need to get some written commitments from top drivers ASAP. Unfortunately, none of the top programs have raced in at least a year, so their cars are dry on sponsor money and unlikely to come out to an event like this on their own budget.

from what i have heard some of the pro cars are sold or parted out. are you sure that all those drivers on that list still have a car. Also this started out with having a race and worries about who will have the funds to make it or get their cars up and ready for it. Now its shifted towards an outlaw type of race. Isnt that going to stress the racers budget even more trying to come up with new or additional parts to make the cars competitive in and "outlaw" series. The next big thread will be every one for them selves with rules as it turns from happy "lets limit these guys to that". And what about the every day sportsman up and coming racer. where are their classses. You will need a larger turn out of the up and coming racer to fill the lanes. Give then motivation to compete and they will want to visit some shops and spend some money to be the next pro racer long after this race is over. And please dont just throw then in some lame bracket class. one person need to take control and set things. Then stick to it and make it final long before this race is schedule to happen.
One big race with "pro" classes and huge payouts... sounds like NHRA SC, and Nopi. Doesn't anybody remember what happened to them? Doesn't anybody remember what happened to ALL the events and tours that tried to go big? They tried to make the scene something it never was and never will be. The Import scene is 99% grassroots/weekend racers with the occasional shop going bigger to advertise. ...just my opinion, but a lot of FACTS in there too ;-)
The 100th IFO will be some time in spring/summer of 2010. We'll plan to do something special, but nothing unrealistic.

Maybe im wrong but from reading these threads and seeing the results were seeing more event's happen and more people interested, this is what ive gathered.
It would be awsome to see RWD, FWD, AWD, SOHC, etc classes added to make one giant event!
anyone or group is welcome to piggy back a gambler's race onto any of our events which most are all in the middle of the country. We are EXTREMELY easy to work with.

and i'm in. ive been looking for an excuse to finish this 2.5 motor and an outlaw race would give me that reason. are we talking outlaw run whatcha brung or "outlaw" you still have strict rules to follow?
not to mention it was 2-3 years before street class racers were traveling.
