ONE RACE
Well I'm just a fan and not a racer but here is my view as a fan to see some good racing
Index classes and run what you brung.
Heads up
6 second class - quick 6 or 8
7.0 - 7.29 class - quick 8
7.30 - 7.59 - quick - 8
8 - 8.59 - quick 16
9 - 9.99 quick 16 - imagine here pro all motor cars vs spfwd cars
10 - 10.99 quick 16
same for 11 and 12's
This way will make it exciting. Seeing fwd vs rwd vs awd going head to head.
No weight, turbo, tire size no type of restriction.
So there be no crying!!!!!!!!!
At Raceway Park Summer Slam - second best sport compact crowd after the Pan Ams
Dont you guys want to race with a pack crowd? Don't you guys want to see how it feels to race with all the eyes on you? Like I said I'm not a racer but if I was I would love to race with 3 - 5000 people on the stands. Maybe you break under the pressure maybe you succeed. Isn't that what sponsors look at?
I'm sure Javier would have no problems changing the classes for Summer Slam to see good *** racing

Weather was perfectly fine for WIC2, still not a single class was full. My point and opinion is that it's unrealistic to think one big event will succeed in attracting racers from all coasts. Again, support the events that are already established and build off of them.
One big race with "pro" classes and huge payouts... sounds like NHRA SC, and Nopi. Doesn't anybody remember what happened to them? Doesn't anybody remember what happened to ALL the events and tours that tried to go big? They tried to make the scene something it never was and never will be. The Import scene is 99% grassroots/weekend racers with the occasional shop going bigger to advertise. ...just my opinion, but a lot of FACTS in there too ;-)
The 100th IFO will be some time in spring/summer of 2010. We'll plan to do something special, but nothing unrealistic.

When NHRA and NOPI were around there were 20 national races in addition to BOTI and IDRC. That is a lot different than one single event per year that everyone can focus on. In NHRA and NOPIs closing months, diesel fuel was $5.15 as well. I drove my truck 650 miles today for $100.
This is your second post to trash the idea, but there are a lot of pro racers out there with nowhere to race. We certainly can't race at your events. Last IFO I raced at I was one of the first cars to arrive and then sat in a tech line for 2 hours. I watched first round qualifying from the tech line, then heard final call for 2nd round qualifying before we got back to our pits from tech. We ran like hell to get up there for 2nd round, then on our way back to the pits after that run 3rd round qualifier was in the staging lanes. You aren't setup for these types of cars, so let up a little on trashing the idea of trying to keep pro racing alive in this sport.
no, there are no "facts" in your statement. one national event a year is alot different from 10.
and i'm in. ive been looking for an excuse to finish this 2.5 motor and an outlaw race would give me that reason. are we talking outlaw run whatcha brung or "outlaw" you still have strict rules to follow?

All motor pro car? Everyone do me a favor and talk to every racer you know and lets get people talking about it. If Javier will let us do it, lets do it. If not lets find another event to piggyback onto.
I don't mean to be "thrashing" on the idea, just trying to be what I feel is realistic. If there truly are enough pro cars left looking for an event to race at, they are welcome to piggy back onto any IFO, times can be restructured to more than 1 hour between rounds too. Of all the repeat locations we go to though, all together there are only 4 pro racers that still have cars (2 in OK, 2in TX).
I can't speak for the country as a whole, but there were several races here in Houston that got rained out. I think the rain did Houston in on the import racing scene for a while. Then we didn't have a single race for several years until Cliff brought IFO to Houston Raceway Park. IFO has had great luck with weather in Houston so far. My friends and I always do our best to bring as many cars as we can to the Houston IFO to support the local scene.
Way before NHRA & NOPI. And there still packed today...
/\ yep, but I think the point of the post was something in the middle that pro racers who seem to mostly all be on the east or west coast can all come together somewhere in the middle for one big event. WIC tried, but was still nothing compared to the etwon and pan am events. Again, I just say build off those already established events... trying one big event in the middle is a bad idea.
Well the came, they tried and we know what happened to them. The case and point now is, Can one be held now and be better than the past failures? Remember the past FUCUS on the future.

That being said...........
The only tracks Imports have ever really had crowds at are Englishtown, Atco, Budd's Creek, Palm Beach International Raceway. You can talk all you want about where the racers are. I think sponsors would be more concerned about where the CROWDS are. The Modified class cars on the east coast are second to none, because that's really where they all are. They also help bring big crowds, along with SPFWD/Outlaw. Since there really aren't as many pro rear wheel drive type cars out there, implement them in with the Modifieds (with a weight penalty or some other restriction) and you'll see some serious racing from them.
Exactly... That's why i believe the Etown event is the one we should be focusing on...
[QUOTE=13173;39492008]Maybe you should have never built a pro car? Whats the purpose of it if you cant or wont race it because you just will not make your money back. I think it is funny when people build something crazy and then cant afford to fix it when its broke, cant get it to run that well, etc. Kind of like buying a Ferrari and cant afford to keep up the maintenance or put gas in it.
ummmmm! ive built 3 hot rod cars and 1 pro fwd car. ive lost everything ive had because i was obsessed with this sport. i was banned from running the car from nhra, then bs happens. i spent so many years trying to make my car the fastest. so now im a old man i have a lot to lose . im not gonna throw away money on something that will have absolutely no payback. at least pay for a motor or some kind of expense. i would rather go golf or campin in the dunes , then spend 10,000 dollars gettin parts together and runnin the car in front of 75 spectators and 50 entrees. the car is sittin and will stay sittin. unless theres a big money race ! remember i can bring a few friends to this race. so find some money, sponsors and lets have some fun.

Leevon,
Can you work on getting in touch with all the ProFWD guys and try to get them all together. I can't do it all and that would help a ton. I don't even know who all the ProFWD drivers are.

Well don't forget pomona raceway out jere on so cal has had some damn good sport compact turnouts and Las vegas Motor Speedway.
also Jerrold Rhodes and Irran Jolly
I think spectator turnouts would be about the same between E town and Fontana/ Vegas. All seem to draw a big crowd. The bad thing is for most of us that would consider running this event, it pretty much puts it out of reach if its on the other side of the country. Without sponsors it is a big hit in the pocket book. Of couse I'd love for it to be in Fontana, cuz its 30 minutes away, but the east coast guys will bitch. If its in E town we'll prolly do the same. Personally I'd like to see it in the center somewhere, and cross our fingers that its a success.
Personally, I'd like to see this in Vegas, although I understand that this would be a rather long drive for the East Coast guys.
Another thing that needs to be sorted out is the "track fee". If you are not piggybacking onto an already existing event, the costs are sky high. I guess this is where Etown would probably be a good choice.
