Looking for Clutch Switch Ideas for 88 CRX
Just did a few test runs at the track on Sunday and finally got her down to 12.7 @ 117MPH. 1.9 60' and RT of .319. So I know with a bit more practice, I can get this down to 12.0. Consistency is hard to get right now since I have to modulate the clutch and throttle from launch till about third gear. So my next step is trying to utilize the two step or launch control either with my MSD Digital 6 or the Hondata S300. My only issue is that the '88 CRX's did not have a safety clutch switch which would have been useful to activate a trigger for the launch control features. I figure a home made bracket and a micro switch used for nitrous activation may work if it was some how fitted at the clutch pedal. Just checking if anyone else has done something similar so I can some ideas. Pics would be great.

Re: Looking for Clutch Switch Ideas for 88 CRX (Turbo-charged)
Yep. The car starts without the clutch pushed in. Honda did not use them for the CRX until 1990. I thought about using a button on the steering wheel but I think a pedal switch would have more accurate timing. On the E-brake, there is a wire that sends a signal to the cluster telling if the E-brake is engaged or not. However, there is only a 12v signal in that wire when the E-brake is off, not when it's engaged. The E-brake trigger might be better but I just need to figure out how to reverse the 12v signal so that there's power on that wire when the E-brake is engaged.

the ebrake trigger is a ground signal....if you need it to be a 12v signal for whatever you are trying to trigger.....just use the ground its sending to trigger a relay which will then output 12v to whatever your trying to activate.

To make that ground a positive quick how to..
Looking at the relay with the bottom prong up and down ..
left pin gets 12V
top pin gets 12v
right pin is the input from the e brake..
and then the bottom up and down pin is your output of 12V when you give the right pin a ground.
Middle pin gets nothing..
Done deal that easy..

Nice. Thanks for the info. I was about to search to find how to do this. I'm assuming the relay to use is the standard 5 pin automotive relay from Radio Shack?

Just finished it up and I'll test it tomorrow. I actually ended up hooking the two step trigger to one of the headlights high beam positive wire. The headlight lever is on the left side of the steering column so I can keep my left hand on the steering wheel, hold the lever and be able to shift quickly. To activate the two step, I just hold the high beam lever and release at launch. Hopefully I'll get this down with some practice.
