I agree why do you think Nascar runs 2 MSD boxes and coils..
when one breaks half way thru the race they switch over..
to the back up..

after one race the boxes are thrown away ...

new stuff is put on ....

I will say this thou we dyno tested MSD on tbone CAr when i was IN CT and it made the most Power !!! :

What other boxes and coils did you test it against?

I will let Tbone Chime in.. since he was uspplied the parts for the test..

but I will in NASCAR the crane stuff made about 1 to 2 HP on the engine dyno..

but when run @ the track it wasnt reliable.. I think they have fixed that now?

Not really sure...

A buddy of mine tested a single channel M&W box with a mercury marine coil and it tested stronger than an MSD10. This was on a test bench though, not on a dyno.

well its kinda like the whole low or Hi res spark plug wires..

people think the low will make the best power...

I was testing cup engines and the hi res wire made more power everytime..

one coil wire .. not even spark plug wires

It's Weir.... Those M&W ProDrag 4 Boxes. On my friends car he had 2 of the M&W boxes in conjunction with M880. At the engine dyno it made alot of power with it and not have any problems. First testing at the track, broke both of the boxes maybe due to wheel shake(I think). Well, put 2 more in and broke them both again... same day took all that out and install the CDI-8 and haven't had any problem since....

you people coming in here bashing companies have no clue....NO CLUE...every company has a percentage of failed products PERIOD....the reason you hear more failures with MSD is because they are HUGE....but the precentage of failed products is proportional to any other company....get a clue

Looks like you know us pretty well since we have "no clue". I think they made a movie about us called "clueless".
Tony1= clueless
Max_CFM= clueless
James L= clueless
EFIGUY= clueless, and going bald.
My profile will now read clueless since you know all of us so well.

Must have been the wiring! lol j/k James.

I don't know all the details on that box, but I know it's for drag racing only, so short duration. Is it possible it was run too long and overheated?

And i'm the clueless one...

I haven't used aems cdi box yet, but i hear it works pretty good. I know there were some issues with it when it was first released, but like their EMS, i'm sure they're working out the bugs.

No... The problem seems to happen after the shake. But you're right those boxes when they are on for a while it gets hot and speaking of it one of the boxes had got burn up because it was on with the 16V charger by accident. Or maybe the autozone butt connector is finally falling apart. Haha.(J/K)

I noticed the paperwork provided with the msd box's had schematics for two seperate systems for backup purposes.....It made me wonder why......now I know.

So, are the M&W boxes only made for Drag racing and they wouldn't be applicable in a street car?

MSD is absolute garbage...Seriously. Anyone who doesn't think so, doesn't have a clue. I dread tuning a car that comes in with "Full MSD"...haha.
