Default HELP: O-Ringed block

I was just wondering if the block has to be re-o-ringed when the head is pulled off. The head gasket had blown on my car and it needs to be replaced. Any help is appreciated and if anyone could point me into the direction of anyone that could help that would be great.. thanks in advance.

I always replace mine..

Had a hard time finding the proper wire locally though.
ended up finding someone around here that had a new spool of the GE stuff, luckily.

I believe its 18 gauge soft copper.

You can order the copper wire spool they use directly from the golden eagle website. That is where I got mine. And you get plenty.

use a sharp pick to break the wire and then get under to pop a side up but make sure NOT to grab the wire with your hands as it will cut the hell out of you.. I used sharp pick and needle nose pliers

yea, those wires can be a BI*** to start, but they pull right out once you lift it in one spot.

I never replaced mine when i changed my headgasket... The place who machined my block said it wasnt nessacry if it wasnt damaged...i have seen other threads that people havent done it either... I wasnt comfortable taking it out...it still had a slight raise to it and wasnt damaged so didnt feel the need to change it... I have had zero issues after over 3000k miles... My issues was the cometic headgasket i was using. Went to oem with copper spray and have not had a issue since.

By all means if you feel comfortable changing it yourself then do it...but it has to be a flawless seam and cannot have any gaps.

I didnt change it and had zero issues. the cometic gasket is junk im never using anything besides OEM for headgasket ever again

I had gotten cometic so that it would match my 81.5mm bore...which in the end turned out to be a bad decision.
