what is some of your opinions on them?
is their some sort of benefit to them besides spending $$?
personally i think they are a waist of $$ & haven't messed with them before.
Im asking because i broke everything in my trans except one of those & never had to replace them in 4 years & just sold my trans & they are still damn near perfect. now someone is asking me about doing a trans with them in it for them.

since mine were trashed pretty much anyway, i went with the gs syncros. wether they work or not i dont know. the trans is nice and smooth with them in there shifting pretty high. never pushed stock syncros in my car.
^^^ This guy installed mine
Not sure if they work or not either, I run them and didnt really notice a difference.... but the car went into gear at high rpm fine once I put a stock shifter back on my car, I was running a cheap ebay shortshifter.

the coating is on the inside of the syncro, acts as a braking material during gear engagement. This allows for quicker and more precise shifting. The new Synchrotech Pro Series Carbon Synchros have a Full carbon fiber lining not just a coating. also improved the lock angle, tooth pattern and strengthened the brass body to handle more HP and high RPM shifts.

The carbon synchros definitely offer a slightly smoother feel and certainly on paper have a higher coefficient of friction. Whether they are needed or not is up in the air, as people get away just fine with them or without it seems. They aren't that big of an expense compared to other things we do, so I don't really see a problem with the pricing. Plus, Dave @ Synchrotech is one hell of a guy to deal with when it comes to customer service!
In addition to Synchrotech, MFactory also has some.
You just have to remember, no synchro you install can heal worn dogteeth on the sleeves or gears. Or scratches in the hubs.

The new Synchrotech Carbon Lined Synchros have been completely redesigned with a full carbon lining instead of just a coating. We tested several different versions and went back to the drawing board numerous times to make sure we created the best possible Synchro on the market. This new material is the result of over a year of testing! In fact, during a two month testing period, the Prototype Synchros were subjected to countless passes with shifts over 10,000 RPM’s and showed minimal wear and were reinstalled after inspection for continued testing.
· New Carbon fiber lining – A full carbon lining instead of just a coating.
· Stronger Brass body - The Brass body has been upgraded to a stronger Japanese Brass composition.
· Improved lock angle - The lock angle was changed from 120 degrees to 110 degrees to aid in higher RPM shifts.
· More surface contact - The inner carbon ridges have twice the surface contact (like putting bigger brakes on the gear).

Im new to the Kseries world and have heard that some of the stock synchros for these transmissions are carbon coated. I need to do some repairs to my 6 speed K series tranny and was looking around for coated synchros, but didnt find much. Are they available for my application?
May be a little off topic, but that I would ask in here anyways.

Honda used Carbon lined synchros on 3rd and 4th gear in the JDM 01-05 K20 Integra Type R transmission. The USDM RSX-S came with brass synchros and had problems with the 3rd gear shift. We have the carbon 3/4 synchro sleeve set available and it works much better than the brass OEM set. We are also planning on developing the 1st/2nd synchros with a carbon lining later this year.
i actually need to contact both of them soon for some fresh parts for my hydro b16 this season
need a long 1st gear and a new 2nd gear and a new shift change assembly....(cough; sponsorship help would be great ;cough) haha
anyway, you cant go wrong w/ either of them
