I wasnt around for that race, but I have heard about it. From what I heard neither car was really 100% and it was a back and forth race. I know Tim had to deal with a blown clutch and a seat malfunction, but as you say anything can happen
. All that matters is who takes the win light.</TD></TR></TABLE>
My car was perfectly fine, it was driver error and missed 2nd gear and so did Tim, it was pretty funny cause both of us looked at each other like "what the hell?" After talking to Tim in the pits he informed me about his clutch and his seat sliding all the way back and he couldn't reach the pedals, we both laughed so hard about it and thats what makes it good times!

BOTI has been sucessful for a reason, and I think you need to look at history of BOTI vs NHRA before running headlong into a tight rule structure sort of environment. A lot of us will be out if NHRA rules are adopted, and from what I have seen in past years, the series can't afford to lose that many cars to make a couple "pro" guys happy. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I made the same point on another thread.. Boti has for the pass 5 years has relied on small teams and bracket racers to fill their events if NHRA rules are adopted to suit the pro teams it will have the same effects on who shows up...

i hope they are pretty similar cause i've been building my car for over a year to fit boti and idrc rules and it would suck that i have to start all over, kinda hard say ohh you cant use that 3 thousand dollar stroker kit any more.

thanks matt. and you're right, i dont have a baller income. i make a lot less than others, I just choose other sacrifices to make in order to race sometimes. And this year, I'm spending even more money on going faster. We're shooting to make 300whp (DynoJet) on this new setup to compete this season.

so in your line of thinking we should slow everyone down because you can't afford it? hell yeah its expensive to compete. especially with no sponsors..... but does that mean we should slow down everyone else who has money and the drive to build a competative car??
i couldnt compete with my car last year due to multiple issues. we did have a few cars that got 2nd at a few races.. but this year i have a new setup to compete with.. and all the bugs are worked out. but did i cry about anyone elses car? no i went and tried to build a more cometative motor. not cry about how everyone is faster.
if it was all about being equal then we should all drive a factory car with no mods. and the best driver wins...
heads up racing is run what you brung.... not lets handicap the other guy because he's faster.
just my opinion.....

no money = no racing.....
a little more than 2 events buddy...
umm i did race every event except one.. NOPI doesnt go to the west coast... IDRC, CMI, BOTI, NHRA. and local thurs nights at irwindale.
if you want to make it fair then make Bisi and norris run street tires on 60psi and i get to run slicks.. then i can compete in the pro-all motor class... and make them run with an arm tied behind their back.. (just to be fair of course)
affordable? racing is not affordable no matter what (unless you are slow) you dump all your money into the car (and time)... fact of life...
brackets you don't need to go fast.. its about consistency... thats why they have multiple brackets.. seriously maybe brackets are more suited for you and RP-racing... they are fair... you would have a much better chance of winning there..
any more questions genius?

when did i ever cry about rules? when did i ever bitch about being slow? when did i say to handicap a guy?
I'm talking about continuing to make the racing close and enjoyable for all parties involved (racers, spectators, veiwers, and sponsors). I envision what the SFWD class in NHRA this season was; it was close to a good rule structure. On the other hand of the spectrum (your opinions), NHRA PRO RWD was run by the ballers of Titan. And they are done with sport compacts as they ran that class. it WAS the Titan show, now there is no more class.

in borrowed cars last season, year before was mid 10's in my own car. and i said usually, there were a FEW times that there were cars close, and even a couple faster
but no one was there more than maybe 2 times i saw, that were faster than mid-high 11's, and thats the VW
but no one was there more than maybe 2 times i saw, that were faster than mid-high 11's, and thats the VW
And by no means am I trying to say that my P.O.S. was fast as all hell, it was quick for being a ghetto **** box. And i know there are cars in the Salem/Portland area as fast and faster, they just never seem to be at the track
h22crxpwr your a funny dude stop being so close minded. the trend in this sport is to put every dime you have in a car till your flat broke sell every thing stop racing .everybody needs to stop worrying about pushing the limits and let the sport as a whole catch up then give it some lead way. the guys out there pushing the limits right now i have huge respect for but that's not filling the stands or classes. affordable is the wrong word i know racing is $ trust me but something has to happen.
Lets put it this way guys, 95% of the cars that ran pro-import this past 2007 season ran low to mid 9's, with 2 or 3 cars that ran mid to low 8's. Frank is not going to slow anyone down from what it was this past season, infact he would like to see a field of cars in that class running mid to high 8's.
SO I really don't understand what all the fuss is about unless those 95% of people that ran BOTI this past season plan on running in the 7's for 2008. I doubt it will happen with those cars.. So with rules that will be set for the cars in Pro-import it will be pretty much mid to high 8sec cars. Unless some of you think you can run quicker then mid 8's then I would start to worry.
The biggest concern now is for the supra guys, they need a spot to race, and Frank is doing his best to fit those guys in without cutting there throats.

I come from a drag racing family. My father raced super comp (8.90et) in the NHRA for over 20 years. I grew up at the track!
Import drag racing is still in it's infant stage ready to explode. I believe There should be more index based classes with dial in's to help boost the sport. Maybe a 11.90?? class? not sure on 11.90? But for sure a 10.90,9.90,8.90 etc. etc. This would make import drag racing more fun and more afordable for more people. Right now in order to make a name for yourself you have to have major money$$$ to do so. If there were set index classes w/ a breakout and a points race. More (sportman) racers can make a name for them selves in there affordable class. By all means racing is not for poor people, but I believe this is what the import drag racing needs.
