i dont have one.....

if you can afford the woffer, enclosure, and to power it....i dont think you will be disappointed. the enclosure will probably have to be custom made because of the size and weight of the woofer.

Well, first, if you can afford one, you can afford to either build, or get a custom box built. They require a 1" thick baffle at least.

IMO, they are overpriced for what you get. The funky impedance on the coils makes it a bit more difficult to match them to an amp, unless you want to go JL.

The 10W7 and 12W7 have 3 ohm coils. The 13 W7 has the 1.5 ohm coil. Since these are subwoofers and we have class D amplifers available nowadays, which are pretty much capable of lower impedances and high current, there's nothing to worry about if you stick with a class-D amp.

Overpriced? Not really considering you only need to buy one sub if you are sane.

But a class D on a SQ sub...tisk tisk...not what I would recommend. Also...at an MSRP approacing 900, how can you not call it at least expensive...

First things first yes you have to have a specal box built due to the masive amounts of weight and bass. the 10 is 37 pounds the 12 is 47 pounds and the 13 is 57 pounds so the fornt of the box has to be at least two sheets of 1/2in mdf laminated or glued together or a 1in mdf front. two ive put about 10 or twelve in this month and they hammer the bass is crisp clean and loud yes you need a lot of power due to the design and the motor structure (JL's warranty is up to 2000 watts of power) we use either a PPI or a JL class d amp and for those people who think class d amps arent clean the JL'S we use are some of the cleanest out there the reason you should use JL amp is they produce all there power ant any ohm load (1 ohm to 4ohm ) so those 3ohm woffers you still get max power where as the PPI you dont get max power. third yes they arent cheap but like previous post you only need one unless you are bass crazy. hope this helped

from what i heard, their sound quality is suppose to be better than the IDMAX. the 800 price tag is the retail value. you can get it for ~$550. IMO, not that bad. plus they will handle up to 2000watts RMS if you know what you're doing. the mounting depth is amazing. i had a picture of a W7 next to the IDMAX and the IDMAX looks like it had shrunk in size! the impedance is weird. just un it off a JL amp and call it a day. a lot of class D amps are actually clean sounding.

i've got a 12w7 in my teg, i'm pushing it with a 1000/1 jl monoblock amp. it is by far the best sounding sub i have ever heard. i realize that they are quite pricey, but this is the one sub where you can actually say that one 12 will sound like four 15's and not be lying, and fortunately, i work at a stereo shop and i get them at cost

I have 1. check out my site http://www.sounddomain.com/id/rcantu

it blew up on me. I think the amp shorted it out. It's pretty loud but not 4 15 loud.

the 3 times ive heard the w7 i ahvent been very impressed. it was loud, yes. but in sound quality. it was good. but not quite what i like. almost muddy on some tracks i listneed to. but of course only one time was in a car, and that was in the jl demo car at spring break nationals, and all they would play was bass mechanik ****, couldnt get them to paly real music.

rcurley arent you on eca?

class d is fine for sq. just go to a comp and check out all the people runnign class d's to thier subs. lots of them. the distortion is not noticable in sub especially. the thd ratings on amps is pretty much useless spec. as long as it is decently low you wont be able to hear it. tisk tisk my ***

But the engineers that designed their amps were at PPI and Xtant before. You can't possibly go wrong.

10W7 $550
12W7 $750
13W7 $950

You guys do whatca like...I'm just saying, in my eyes:

a) the W7 is a nice woofer...but still overpriced

and

b) I like class a/b amps over D's

If you guys want to run W7's and class D amps, then go for it...just not what I would do...hence the beauty of car audio--it's all subjective.

The 10W7 and 12W7 have 3 ohm coils. The 13 W7 has the 1.5 ohm coil.
13W7 has dual 1.5 ohm voice coils. I have 1 10W7 in the JL HO box running off of a 500/1 and I am very pleased with the sound quality and the output.
