Switch of fuel pump kill overheat?
I wired up a fuel cutoff switch yesterday and it worked great.
Tonight when i was on my way home, it crapped out on me. I pushed my car (3G teg) hard through 3rd gear and then hit a stop sign. I pushed it hard in first gear and went to second and there was no more fuel... crap.
I felt to see if i hit the switch. nope. It was fuggin hot tho! Did it crap out or did the wiring crap out. Luckily i was around the corner from my house.
O yeah it is a 2 prong 12 volt 25 amp automotive switch.

Find out how many amps are running through that circuit. If you're running more than 25 amps through that circuit, then the switch will heat up.
However, I'm guessing that you may have a short somewhere. If this is the case, then you'll also have a fuse blown.

When will people ever learn that you need to use a SPDT
relay when doing things like this. Here is the skinny:
a. There is a low rate of failure...and it will outlast yor car.
b. It is designed to switch "heavy" electrical loads.
c. It can be activated by a smaller, more concealable switch
( a 25amp load switch is freaking huge..wouldnt you agree)
which is the reason you wanted the imobilizer in the first place.
d. The connection with the relay can be camoed anywhere in the car.
e. its a much safer way of doing what you have done..unless
you like fire.
Have fun.
