Default fuel pump kill switch question

I'm planning on putting a switch and a 30amp fuse between the wires that run from the fuel pump to the front of my Civic. Will this setup work? I read in the previous post that you would have to use a relay...why???

because of the amp rating on the switch is not enough. (unless you find one that is, you should use a relay)

No need for a fuse, already fused in the factory harness..
Just insert a single pole/single throw switch on the ground side of the fuel pump..
