Default reverse light starter kill

I lost the thread on how to do a reverse light starter kill so that the starter will only activate when in reverse.

I just want to make sure this is the correct wiring.

30-one end of the starter wire
87-the other end of the starter wire
85-reverse light wire
86-ground

thanks

Yes, that's correct assuming the reverse wire is a positive 12v signal.
In some vehicles the reverse wire could be negative. Test.

Preferibly, use 87 for key switch side and 30 for starter solenoid side.

there's only one problem with starter kills. If someone doesn't have your key and is going to hot wire it anyhow, then they'll see your starter wire has a relay in-line with it, and bypass the relay. Make sure if you are going to do the starter kill you either A> connect the starter kill relay in-line as far back down the ignition wires as possible so the lines look untouched, or B> Take some heavier guage wire and if possible unsolder the factory starter wire, solder yours in place, and run your wire down into the dash and someone way out of the way. Then use the relay to link your wire to the factory starter wire, this way the starter wire again looks untouched and the connection leading to the relay isn't as visible.

It sounds like you are connected to 87a instead of 87
