It stays on for a while and then turns off for a while and then comes back on without you doing anything? I had a customer with that problem back when I was doing car audio. It was hard to diagnose but it turned out to be his grounds. My advice would be to start by re-wiring all the grounds (power & speaker) on the deck with proper gauge wire.

the cd player goes off automatically. like i just listen to it then then i the player kinda blinks goes off then comes on then back off completely.
i dont do nothing for it to come back on. it just comes back on automatically. sometimes when it does come back on i kinda hear like a static noise. like the cd player trying to start back up.

If the cd cuts out, but the the lights on the HU stay on, it may be a speaker or speaker lead shorting out and the protection circuit cutting in.

If everything cuts out, [including lights] the problem is in the power or ground connections, even a defective fuse or fuse mount.

One more thing, do you have an amp or amps, or do the speakers run off HU power? 94

</TD></TR></TABLE>Yes it could be the Hu, but I would check the connections first, and another thing to try is how well do the fuses fit in the fuseboxs, radio acc. is in the incar fusebox and radio memory, [constant] is in the engine bay fusebox, even if they look good. replace them, and then put a finger on top of the fuse and wiggle it in its "mount" see if that will cut the HU off and on. 94
