Default question for SP

ok the indash dvd players with the sceens that come out of the unit....I was wondering if I picked up a cheaper one....can I wire it so that I would have the unit where my stock cd player used to be...but be able to wire it so that it only acts as a dvd player...I dont want to use it to play cds...I was figuring I could splice the wires for the speakers into the wiring I have with the headunit I have now
would that work? if not what are the other options...

You can do that, but you will need a speaker switch, I'll try to locate a link for what I mean.
