problem with the head unit
granted i sold my acura a little while back but still refer to this site since i can still learn the same basic principles that carry through. I have a 96 bmw 540i that has an aftermarket cd/mp3/ipod player in it from kenwood. Sometimes, and this only happens on occasion, when i turn up the volume the unit will power down then turn back on like its doing a reset, on top of that it doesnt get hot so i dont think its overheating since my drive to work 1 way is maybe only 15 minutes max and it doesnt feel hot to touch...i dont understand why. i havent looked at the wiring which is probably what i should do but maybe someone here with more experience can tell me whats going on...thanks guys...

A shorted out speaker wire or speaker, bad ground, loose connections. On any bmw I will allways use my own ground. Allways had problems when I didn't.
aweseome, thats what i kind of figured...bmw's are garbage when it comes to electronics...and unfortunately they have so many...at least one person on here has some knowledge to share...

There are many people on here that have great knowledge. I was just the first to answer. How old are the speakers in the car?
