Default Head Unit problem!

My friend was trying to use my wiring kit that the previous owner of my Si installed... and it turned out it didnt work with his amp. Anyway I left the key in the ignition on the first click I think, as he was installing it. Now, the cd comes out if I press the eject button, but it doesnt turn on!! Pressing power or if it accepts the cd and sucks it in, it wont turn on!!

What is wrong!?!?

Did he short something out? I really dont know **** about all the electronics and wiring of audio etc, so I figured he'd know what he was doing because he'd done it before...

The problem is at the radio. Sounds like the +12 volt constant power input is hooked to the +12 volt switched output from the car and the +12 volt switched input is hooked to nothing or to a wire with a blow fuse. Its hard to guess at problems like this. Get someone that knows what they are doing to hook it up and leave the "friend" out of it.

the fuse is at two location..

One Under the hood. 7.5 amp fuse

the other one is under the driver dash.. 10amp

those are the only two fuses goinm to the stereo

make sure all wires are connected correctly or else fuses will keep blowing

The security light blinks, and cd can go in and eject, but pushing the volume **** in WONT turn it on. I cant get it to turn on. I replaced the 7.5 amp fuse in the fusebox, but it didnt do a thing.

Someone said I should bust out the volt meter, but where should I use it on?

I'm so frustrated. My friend (who did the amp hookup to begin with) said theres no way the deck could have been fried because he didnt have the 2 wires that go from the amp to the deck... so thats not the problem. If so, does anyone have any idea?

The previous owner of my car said it was an Alpine amp wiring kit, and for some reason it didnt work with this kid's amp. I had my key in the ignition, either just in, or in the first clicked position. (the one before where the fan turns on and lights start blinking)

Any ideas anyone?

I also disconnected the battery and let it sit to see if the CODE would start flashing

Nothing happened

Cmon I need ideas

How can I get to the 10.5 amp fuse in the dash as someone earlier mentioned? Is it even the HU that is the problem?

First, I'll never understand why people work on circuits on their car without disconnecting the battery - but I guess we are past that point...

I'm getting the impression that this is an aftermarket deck - if so, the harness is usuall fused on the yellow wire that goes hot with the key - sounds to me like that fuse is dead, and the 12v constant is still hot - that's why you get lights to blink and cd's ejecting, but no turn on...
