Hey there, i found an OEM Equalizer for my 89 Civic Hatch a couple of weeks ago, i have a JVC headunit but it doesn't have this plug, Which OEM Honda headunit would this plug into besides an EF unit?
Any Honda/Acura HU with that Din plug on the back that has a jumper plug covering it.
Do not confuse the CD changer port on the back of the HU, [CD changer controller HU] with the EQ port, they look identical.
Only the EQ port needs the jumper plug for the HU to work, also keep in mind the HUs will be AM/FM Cassette.94

Update!: I bought a 92 OEM AM/FM/Cassette headunit and it only has the CD Changer plug, and the antenna plug... besides the wire harness plug. You said something about a jumper plug?
Honda/Acura HUs that have an optional EQ capability have an EQ port, looks a lot like the CD changer port but will have jumper, [dummy] plug in it, if the jumper is removed the HU will have no sound unless the EQ is plugged in, the jumper connects the HUs preamp stage, [pre amp outputs] to the amplifier stage.
When the EQ is plugged in the signal from the HUs pre amp stage goes out and through the EQ before returning into the HU and it's amplifier stage.
You have to have a HU with an EQ port to be able to use the EQ.
Here is an Acura HU and EQ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Acura...fAudioQ5fVideo
Here is one with the jumper plug, [white plastic cap on din plug]... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...fAudioQ5fVideo 94

So are these little oem equalizers obsolete without the Honda headunit they were designed for or have people found a way to rig them into other Honda or aftermarket headunits?

Thanks for the info.
I've got one of those eq's somewhere in a box of stuff. Pulled it years ago when I put in an Acura CD headunit to replace my broken factory cassette tape radio because the EQ would not function with the CD unit. It wouldn't even light up. This thread explains why. The gray DIN connector like the one on my CD player is for CD changer and does not support the EQ. I also recall the jumper that was on my radio before I put the EQ in. I Still have that jumper in my glovebox.
I kind of liked having that little stock EQ lit up on my dash and tuning cassette sounds with it. I had a couple of high quality tDK metal, dolby S recorded tapes that sounded suprisingly good on the basic stereo and even better tuned up with the EQ.
I'm game for trying to get the eq going with my Acura CD headunit if the process isn't too involved. I can solder with the best of them, but techinical stuff like reading circuit boards is beyond me. Is there a thread here or a site that shows how to rig this up?
